RE: Nemar is not listed under NADA

I have seen the Newmar products listed by model not make. They are there though.

RE: Most Common RV Tires for 22.5 inch wheels

I would go the extra bucks and stick with what was on originally. If you go to another make and find they don't ride the same, you may regret your choice. Tires are the only thing between your coach and the road. If it were my choice, it would be Michelin. More money, you may be getting what you pay for, the right tire.

RE: Aqua Hot Question

The bathroom switch arms the fan motor, that is it supplies power to the thermo-board. It then requires to have the glycol within the heat exchanger hot and a temperature demand for the mid-ship heating zone.
As far as the lighted AC switch, I would first confirm it is not operating. Do this by observing the AC amp indicator before and after turning on the switch. Make sure the glycol is low enough in temperature that it will demand. If you get no draw, there is a power supply issue or the element is open.

RE: Pros and cons of large tag axle rigs

Tag axles drive well, but so do many single rear axle coaches. Many say they drive staighter down the road, I've found both singles and tags can drive well. I love tag equipped units.

RE: Telegraph Creek, BC

I did the entire run in my current coach. No issues, but I would not do it again. The grades were steep but no issue. The roads were not bad. The tight turns were okay, but not with lumber trucks also sharing the road. Several times I thought I would have the end of some logs come right through the windshield. Challenging, yes. A do again, no.

RE: HWH levelers, Help

Great you got fixed up. HWH are top shelf in service. They are the best in my book.

Congratulations, nice coach. Also check out irv2.com and go to the Newmar section. Lots of good help there too.

RE: question about diesel motorhomes

I have the HydroHot also. It supplies both hot water and even heat throughout the coach. It is a quite a bit better than my previous coaches with furnace heat. Additionally heated floors are available, which I have also, great for non-carpeted floors. Then there is the heat pumps (3) which, quite honestly, I rarely use.

RE: Newmar Owners, how are they for quality, service etc?

I'm on my third Newmar over a 12 year span. All I bought new, MA, DSDP and now an EXDP. Newmar has been excellent. Though everything has its issues I would rate Newmar way above most others. Get one while you can still get it on a Spartan chassis.

RE: Cummins ISC 350 just quits

It does sound like a fuel related issue. I would change the fuel filter(s) again, but this time cut the old one(s) open and inspect the interior. You may have fungus build up in the tank. If so, have your fuel polished at a service shop that is equipped to handle this.
You know i was going to cut them open but figured ah this will fix it...Question...if i had fungus in the fuel would it not affect power and driving down the highway..?...the engine runs great once I do the restart.....thanks for the reply
Yes, you are probably correct. If it is only a starting issue, it could be the electronic starting aid which is a heated intake grid. If that were the problem you would see lots of white smoke upon start up.

RE: How low a temp will heat pump function?

I would agree with 38 to 35 degrees depending on the make.

RE: Chrome Kick Plates on entry steps?

The pieces you have probably seen are really polished stainless steel. Summit Manufacturing in Johnston Iowa make about the best for most coaches. They are pre-made and laser polished. Check them out on the internet. Albert is the owner of Summit and knows most motor home profiles.

RE: Towing 99 Honda Accord

Honda may say no, but is it really no? They probably don't want to do the testing to verify. I bought a new Honda S2000 in 2004. Honda said it could not be towed four down. It was a 6 speed as that's the only way they sell them. I towed it 4 down for about 15,000 miles or so. The only issue was feathering of the tires. Other than that, it worked perfectly.

RE: Do U use cruise control with the exhaust brake switch ON?

Sure, but the engine brake doesn't come on until about 10 mph over the set speed. I'd like it to come on at about 5 over instead.
Actually your tranny will hunt for a lower gear (Probably 2nd) at about 6 to 8 MPH over the set cruise and will bring in the Jake at about 10 MPH over the set speed. It is a good feature when used in the right terrain application.

RE: auto start for genny??

I have the Onan auto genset start. It works perfectly for both house voltage and A/C demand. Onan apparently has a new product, an auto start that is owner installable. It just plugs in to the existing harness. It might be worth contacting them directly before moving forward.

RE: Fleetwood Goes to All Spartan Chassis on DPs

Spartan Chassis builds a top quality product and their service is excellent. Their model choices are shown on their website. It will be one of these models with the possible addition of selected options, that are also listed. I believe it is www.spartanmotors.com

RE: Cummins 275 Allison 6 Performance

The higher HP and especially the 6 speed tranny will perform far better on grades. It will not, however run 60 MPH up every grade, but then most others will not either. The 6 speed will be a noticable difference. Going to a 300, sure slightly better, but so would a 350, 400, 450, etc. Much of the performance depends on the vehicles weight. I had an ISC 350 in a coach weighing 32,000 lbs. I have an ISM 500 in a coach weighing 46,000 lbs. They both have very similar performance as the HP was basically match with the overall weight.

RE: AGM Chassis Batteries

AGM batteries are available for both house and chassis. I use AGM start batteries for my boat, CAT C-18's @ 1015 HP. They start faster than my ISM Cummins, neither have electronic starting aids.
