RE: What was your first car?

1970 Plymouth Custom Suburban (bought it in 1982) it had 64,000 miles on it and I paid a whopping $400.00 for it.

RE: 1976 Holiday Rambler Park Model 32 foot, two tip outs?

As you say the tip outs do tip in and lay down on the floor. The opening is usually covered with a vinyl or canvas cover that snaps over the opening. I really don't think that it's a very water tight set up when the tip outs are in and I would also worry that traveling long distances might result in a cover coming off while going down the highway. Sounds like a great trailer for a permanent site though.

RE: Correct Towing Mirrors

Give some thought to the turn signal in the mirror. I had it OEM and replaced those with an after market towing mirror without the turn signal. When that signal is flashing and I'm trying to see my trailer in the mirror I have to turn the turn signal off. The signal is blinding to me.
Just a thought and the non signal mirrors as cheaper as well.
The mirrors in question from AM AutoParts have the turn signal mounted on the outside edge of the plastic housing not in the mirror like the factory towing mirrors. I used to have the power extending factory tow mirrors with the signal in the glass and I agree it can be distracting.

RE: Rear axle ratio 1999 Durango

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango Magnum V8 5.9 L engine. I found a towing guide that states it could tow 7400 lbs with a "rear axle ratio of 3.92" Where do I find information on what my axle ratio is? I looked in the owners manual and couldn't find the answer and also on the door sticker. Thanks in advance.
Open the hood and look up, sticker should be stuck to the drivers side.

RE: Tow rating/going crazy

According to this scan I found of the brochure from 1995 it looks like it is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 10,000lbs.

RE: 2007 GMC Sierra Duramax Prodigy Brake Controller Showing NC

"The people at Camping World also thought the 02 Sierra controller cable works with the 07 Sierra. I did check the pins in the block under the driver side control panel and they match up but I don't know if they are correct."
Not sure if that's correct... on the Silverado they switched a couple of the wires around on the harness.

RE: Worst Mismatch I have ever seen: 1/2 ton & 42 Ft Fiver

Last June, we got off the interstate in Colorado Springs, CO and saw this poor little Chevy with a 42 foot triple axle fifth wheel hooked up to it. It was parked when we came across it. I was so stunned I took three photos and walked around it about 5 times. I couldn't believe my eyes.
The folks on the 5er forum couldn't either. After my original post, I was accused of "photo shopping" the pic and the post was closed.
Let me assure you that this set-up, as unlikely as it seems, actually exists. Does anyone have software that can check to see that this pic WAS NOT photo shopped?
For what it's worth, here is the data from the photo:

RE: aluminum roof on a 21 yr. old rv

On the 2 older trailers that I have owned the aluminum roofs didn't have an underlayment. The aluminum is laid down directly over the roof rafter/studs and fastened to the edges of the trailer. If it was glued down to an underlayment it would expand and contract at a different rate than the wood. Since yours is a motorhome it may very well have luan or plywood under the aluminum roof but I still would expect that it wouldn't be glued to it.
