RE: Worst news possible while camping!!
My MIL knew that we were going camping. We visited her prior to leaving, and told her that we would see her on our return. She was so happy & positive, looking forward to being back in her home!! She was a wonderful woman, & the best Mother-n-law anyone could ask for!! I will miss her tremendously!!

Thank you, everyone!! We know she is at rest, and didn't have to live out her final days in a nursing home!! It was a sad ending to what was a great weekend camping with friends. What is to come will be a real challenge!

Worst news possible while camping!!
My Mom-n-law has been hospitalized since July! This passed week, she was released on thursday to go home. In spite of needing 24/7 care, family was going to try to take care of her, as she did NOT want to go into a nursing home!! DH & I are camping across state, when we get a call from his niece telling us to come home immediately!! We ask what's wrong with Mom, but she won't say...keeps sayong we need to come home now!! After explaining it will take us hours to pack & travel, DH's sister gets on the phone to tell us Mom is gone!!! We are sooooo very sad! If we'd only known this was going to happen, we would have cancelled our plans!!! :(

Scott, thank you! She has had more than her share of physical problems. This is going to be a real challenge. I just don't know for certain what to expect, or what we need to do to help her cope with this new chapter in her life!!!

My furbaby is going blind
My Chi, Lexi is loosing her sight!! I took her to our Vet & was diagnosed with Retinal Atrophy. I will take her to a specialist on friday. My question is this... she keeps looking up, like she sees something & no matter what I do to distract her, she continues to intently stare upwards. Is this part of the sight loss process? How do I help her cope??

RE: not tying dogs...Small fence?
We also use the pens for our 2 Chi's. We put their crates in there so they have their familiar "home" to sleep in which also adds a little extra protection from overhead predetors. Hubby will also drape a blanket or tarp over a portion of the area as well to discourage any birds of pry from swooping down. We are always outside when they are in their pen and they love the freedom it allows.
