Newbie has some questions

My sis and brother in law recently retired called me yesterday and are all excited about buying a RV. They are looking two '09 Four Winds Chateay Citations
!. is a 21bc mrsp 68,536 on sale for 49,995
2. is a 28bk mrsp 94,235 on sale for 67,995 They both have the Ford Triton V10 and the salesman said they should get 8-10 mpg, they seem very concerned about milage does this seem about right?
They asked my advice and I thought this seemed like a fair deal but really know nothing about Four Wind brand. Any comments or advice would be great. I have e-mailed them on how to get into this forum so they can reserch themselves but I thought this would be a good start, Thanks.. Russell

RE: who has Gone From a class A to a class B?

I definately miss the room and storage, I would never plug into my daughters house in Arizona for 2 or 3 months in a B.. Believe me it is a sacrifice and not a very easy thing to do. That being said we do more traveling now with the B . I love being able to park at my home and just go whenever the mood hits us.
Not having to pull a toad and getting 15 more miles per gallon is not bad either. So I would say for anyone who likes to stay in one spot for extended periods of time the A wins hands down but for the traveler the B is king.

RE: 2010 Seventh Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B7)

Regarding food......how about a brunch on Sat. rather than breakfast and lunch. Have the brunch at about 10 and then the main meal at 5 or 6.
That would help to keep the cost down and allow us a little more sleep time.
I like that idea Anne...

RE: Airstream

Russ,
Are you taking it to your Airstream Dealer, or directly to Airstream?

Airstream

I will be taking my Airstream Interstate in to Airstream for my first ever problem. When I am out of propane just about all probane dealers have so much trouble filling propane tank. Most of the time it will take none or at most a gallon. I will let you know how the treatment is at Airstream Headquarters. I am not expecting 'Tiffin' treatment but we will see :)..

RE: If not Tiffin what next

Having owned a Tiffin and Winnebago my first choice would be the Winnebago should I go back to a class A. I know that Tiffin bends over backwards for its customers but have been wondering if they will keep it up when Bob Tiffin is no longer running the show.

RE: The Upside of Downsize RVs

Do folks from this "B" list go over to the "A" or "C" lists to tell them about the shortcomings of their RVs?
Great point!!

RE: Which Class B do you drive and why?

I bought the '07 Airstream Interstate Sprinter, because of the great reputation of Airstream and Mercedes. I sure everyone loves what they have and just about all brands that are left in this tough market would be a great choice. I have had my Interstate for just about 18 months and have never been to the shop for anything except an oil change. By the way 21 mpg is a nice bonus.
