Hello,
My wife would like to make a fitted sheet that fits on the bunk beds. Can anyone help? I think the beds are approx. 74 x 31. Would appreciate any help.
thanks

My suggestion would be to examine a fitted sheet in any size you have and just duplicate the way it is made. You would begin with the top mattress flat measurement and then add the inches for the tuck-unders on all four sides as well as the amount needed for hems. That would be the size of the fabric needed. Note the way the elastic is sewn on the edges and the corner mitering. Just duplicate that. Size the flat top sheet with the same top mattress size and add the amount you want for the drop on 3 sizes and for the hems.
If you have an old sheet that can be destroyed, why don't you practice on that? Then go for the good ones!
Also, it is good on that top bunk not to have to get two sheets on, so why don't you sew the foot ends of the fitted bottom sheet and the top sheet together (like the water bed sheets) and let one tucking do it. Tuck the sheets over the foot and pull both sheets toward the head, tuck the bottom around the corners, spread the top sheet up and you've got the bed made.
Best wishes in this indeavor.
