I finally removed the plastic strip that was placed over the carpet and on the vinyl in our camper. Now I can not get the sticky residue off. I think I have it and then it dries and is still sticky. I tried some of the desolvit, some simple green, and plain ole floor cleaner. Do you have any ideas and has this happened to you? I am afraid that the sticky residue will attract dirt. Thanks again for all your help. You are all priceless.

I use a product called Goo Gone to removed sticky residue. Works excellent. It can be used for stain removal on clothes and I have used it on spots on my carpets in the house. Good for removing bubble gum and tar also.
As with all products try on a hidden sample of carpet before using.

I will second "Goo Gone" - got it at the local Ace Hardware - works GREAT - smells like lighter fluid but hasn't hurt my hardwood floors.

I would think the goo gone will work great on the vinyl floor, don't know about the carpet though. Goo Gone seems to work on any hard surface, especially good for removing the residue left on windshileds of the previous years state park and county park stickers. Seems to be my main use of the stuff.

Cheryl and Jerry,
You shouldn't be working this hard to get the "sticky" off of your new carpets and floors...call the manufacturer and ask them what to use. Or take the RV back to the dealer and ask them to get the sticky feeling off. Remember that not only is the area going to be really sticky, it will also be a dirt magnet.
Good luck to you.

Seems like a dealer prep issue, see if they can recommend something or let them do it,,, if you mess it up yourself by using something that may spot or stain it you'll have no recourse.

I had the same problem. The rug became dirty very fast, and could not be cleaner professionlly. The dealer had to replace carpets. Vet Man
