My wife and I have a Coleman Bayside pop-up and we absolutely love it. We have 3 kids, so the roominess of the slideout is wonderful, as is the overall quality.
Although it has a nice awning, we really long for the type of roll-up awning that comes as standard equipment on motorhomes, 5th-wheels, and travel trailors. The kind where the fabric rolls out on pivoting support arms when in use, but roll up and fasten to the side of the RV for travel. (No poles, no stakes, no tie-down ropes...)
We get a bit envious every time people pull into a campsite next to us and spend 30-seconds putting up their awning. It takes a good 10+ minutes to put ours up, and--more critically--10 to 15 minutes to take it down, roll it up, and stuff everything back into its storage bag.
I've only seen one roll-up awning designed for pop-ups (see link below). Apparently it has telescoping support arms for when the roof is lowered, but other than that they look very similar to standard RV awnings. Basically, I'd like to replace my standard awning that requires poles, ropes and stakes with a self-contained roll-up awning.
This is the only one I've found:

Has anyone installed a roll-up type awning on their pop-up?
Do you like it? Does it work effectively?
Is it quicker to put up and pull down?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I've also seen good comments about CareFree of Colorado's Campout. It's a bag awning.
With the SuperSport, you have to be careful where you put the frame attachments. This means you have to get a shorter (length wise) awning than the normal bag awning.

This might help...
With the roof crancked only half way up roll out the awning and attach the poles to the camper body then crank the roof up the rest of the way. Do the opposite when putting it down. I used to use a step stool and still get hit in the head by one thing or another. By unfurling the awning without the TT open all the way it's an easy one person job. There is nothing you can do about the bag except rub a candle on the zipper. The wax makes a great zipper lube and keeps it just a little more water tight. Good luck

Paw,
Thanks for your post, especially link to the pictures. I really wanted one like this, despite the price, until I saw the pictures. I was attracted to the fact that you don't have to set up the poles with the stakes and ropes. But the fact that the awning is shorter in length and height (when attached to the camper) is something that is a deal breaker for me.
I am sure glad that I found this forum, for all of the help that it provides.

AAAA!! I didn't notice it was lower in height. One of the pics did say it was around 6' at the front. Just looking at the awning, it may not extend as far from the camper as the other awnings.

The awning on my Starcraft 2108 is an A&E Trimline. I think it is 9' width. I have not let it out all the way yet but did unzip the storage bag to see if the support poles were attached inside. They were.

Our Shademaker awning has everything attached to the lead bar, too, and no guide wires. We've never timed it but I'd be very surprised if it takes two people over two minutes to put it up and a little longer to roll it up to put away. The most time consuming part is pounding in the two stakes that hold the legs to the ground. It's a little awkward but not too bad for one person to set up/take down.
If you can, tape the poles together so they're not in sections. Setup will be quicker and easier then. I'm not real familiar with the style awning you're talking about so if this is dumb, sorry. We've taped together tent poles like that and it makes a world of difference in setup aggravation or lack of same.
You can get a Shademaker from an eBay seller called Interwest Sports out of Utah for about $200 including shipping. Very nice awning. Then put your old awning on the road side for a shade when you feel the need for it.

The CareFree SuperSport has everything attached to it. It's just like the awnings on the big boys. Except, the vertical poles expand as you crank up the roof. The vertical poles attach to the frame.

There are other brands of rollup awnings for PUs. One starts with an F. Frama? There's a link to it in one of the links I included.

I know they're roll-up awnings, PAW. I mentioned the Shademaker manual type because you mentioned the smaller size of the SuperSport, and because we have the Shademaker and know it to be a nice manual awning that's quick and easy to deal with. Sorry for the confusion.
People sometimes modify their bag awnings to attach to the trailers like a roll-up awning. Of course it still doesn't roll up, but getting the poles up off the ground solves some other problems. Don't know if that info's helpful, but it's an idea.
