Hi all,
This may be a stupid question, but I'm new to RVing, so I'm gonna ask:
I have new-to-me older Skamper PU that's in excellent condition. I've had it on two trips so far and my family and I LOVE IT! The only thing that runs from the propane tank is the stove. On both my trips, whenever I wanted to use the stove, I would turn the propane on at the tank, do my cooking, and then turn the propane back off at the tank.
My question: Is it okay to leave the propane on at the tank as long as the stove controls are OFF (and of course not leaking), so I don't have to keep going back and forth to the tank? Again, this may be a stupid question...
Thanks for all your help. This forum is GREAT!

Hi again,
Thanks for the quick and obvious replies (like I said, my question was stupid).
Another question: Since I have an older camper, is there a way to check for propane line leaks? I'm 99% sure that I don't have any leaks, but it would be comforting to know for sure.
Let me know your thoughts!
Thanks again!

You would smell the propane if it was leaking, Propane is oderless, but they add a rotton egg smell to it for leak detection.
I know this is a no no but I never shut my propane off.
Don't tell the propane police on me because they are right, I'm just lazy.

Spray bottle with soapy water. Just spray all connections from the tank to all appliances that use the propane. If you have a leak it will bubble up.

RV dealers and campers world sell leak detectors
Or you can use the soapy water solution method
If you smell rotten egg smell , turn it off immediatly at tank

...and no questions on this forum are stupid.
The only way to learn is to ask...
