Anyone have any tips to remove the diesel fuel smell from clothes?
I spilled diesel fuel on my clothes and had to leave them outside because of the odor (and wife). I've done a search on this site to no avail. Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks

Put Lestoil on the stains and wash the clothes in the washer with soap but no other clothes. Then wash the clothes again using only soap one more time. Lestoil is made by Clorex and should be available pretty much anywhere.

In a lot of cases where we deal with petroleum product spills, we use, believe it or not, Dawn dish detergent. Liquid Tide works well too. The soap helps break down the product. I would suggest any particular areas that are soiled be rubbed in with either detergent and let them sit awhile before regular washing.

Good Luck

Never tried this on diesel, but my DH get into all kinds of nasty chemicals, and this usually works.
Fill washer with HOT water and detergent (Don't forget CLOTHES) like normal then add about 1 cup of SIMPLE GREEN, let wash agitate for about 2 or 3 min then open lid to stop agitation, let sit for a couple of hours to over night then close the lid and let the cycle finish. If you hate the smell of simple green as much as I do, rewash clothes before putting in dryer. Works on Brake fluid, Tranny fluid, Car oil, and most of the weird things my hubby get on him at work. YUCK.

This also works for the unknown "suff" my boys get into. I don't want to know what it is.

Sprinkle the inside with diesel, close all doors and windows, and let steep in the sun for 2 days.

Then, when you bring inside the clothes with the diesel smell, I guarantee that you will not notice it!

I threw mine away and just wear old stuff if I am going to be in a situation that I could get diesel on them.
