The spring on my carefree omega slide out awning broke. If anyone has replaced this spring I would sure like to learn from the experience.
This is the awning for my large slide out (approximately 15'). I was going to have this done but no one in the area can get to it prior to my trip. I will also contact Carefree and see what I can learn.

It may not be broke. Slide out springs sometimes slip off the end of the shaft. If you can tell me what model of awning you have (Omega I or II, Gaurdi-Awn etc.) I can look it up in my parts manual and explain how to take it apart and look. This is not a difficult job.

It seems Carefree is still using "bad springs" excuse. I had 4 springs replaced on my 2000 WIndsor...Always a bad spring LOL.
I would call it a "bad design".
On the other hand, I'd still take Carefree over other brands. I have Zip Dee now, arguably "the best" and I'd trade back to my "bad spring" Carefree if it were practical.
This advise and/or opinion is worth what you paid for it

Thanks everyone for the comments on spring replacement. I ordered the spring from carefree and paid to have it installed. However, if it should break again, I can handle this job.
If any of you have the same problem contact Carefree and they will e-mail you direction on changing the spring. The direction calls for removal of the awning from the coach however the fellow who installed my spring did not remove the awning. The direction are good and the only difficult part is drilling out two pop rivets. Take care when winding up the spring it can hurt you and the bus if you do not use caution.
