Some folks have made inquiries in different topics about the status of Gulf State Park near Gulf Shores Alabama. This area is just east of where the eye of Hurricane Ivan made landfall and there has been considerable damange to the whole Gulf Shores area. The Huntsville Times has an article about the park in today's edition. There wasn't any mention in the article about the campground so I emailed Alan Clemons, Huntsville Times Outdoors Editor and writer of the column. He replied with the following information:
"There is no timetable for reopening any park facilities. A complete assessment of the entire complex will be completed before any decision is made.
There is some campground damage due to flooding, a few downed trees and obviously limbs and debris from the wind. Commissioner Lawley said the electrical systems at the campground and other facility equipment may be salvaged, but it will require a complete assessment once his staff folks and engineers can get in there to look around.
One cabin was damaged by a fallen tree. Other cabins received minimal damage, remarkably, such as missing shingles, etc.
The golf course has some limb and tree damage, but isn't harmed."

Wow! Thanks for the link. We have really enjoyed Gulf Shores and Ft. Morgan. Those photos really show the devastation. Can't imagine what those people must be going through. Our prayers are with them.
