Looking for a campground near the Sesame Place Park in Langhorne PA. Has anybody ever been there and where did you stay? Looks like a nice park on their website. My 2yr old loves Elmo.
Thanks

We were planning a trip there sometime this year. We were going to stay at the Hershey campground and drive to Sesame Place. We like Hershey because it is about the same distance to Sesame Place as it is to the Crayola factory in Easton PA. Roughly an hour and a half. The kids love it.

Hershey is a bit far from Sesame Place. There are cgs in Quakertown which is closer to both Sesame Place and the Crayola Factory in Easton. The area around Sesame Place (Langhorne) is quite congested and I don't remember there being any cgs there.
Although we haven't been to Sesame Place for years, when we took my granddaughter there it wasn't very clean. Hopefully they've improved it.
I like Elmo too...in fact I'm sitting here in cold Florida with an Elmo blanket on my lap.
Have fun in beautiful Bucks County, PA.

there are no campgrounds near sesame place...closest would have to be in quakertown, west chester, or out a little further...probably better staying in the hamburg or allentown area....that way you could hit hershey, crayola, and sesame place if you need to. also could go to the caverns and the hubby could hit cabelas which would eat up half a day at least...im no fan of sesame place...it gets packed and theres isnt much to do other than swim.....at something like $30.00 or more per person its not really a fun place for me....just my 2cents..

We went 3 years ago and I wasn't impressed, alot of water rides with a height limit, and nothing else, the parade was the best 30 minutes of the whole day ....Don't waste your money!

I think one of the closest CG's is Tohickon Valley Family CG, near Quakertown. I haven't been there so I don't have first-hand information. Also in the area are QuakerWoods CG, which I no longer recommend and Little Red Barn CG. Stayed at both of these in the past but will no longer patronize them.
Try also Homestead CG which is near Green Lane, PA. Never have been there either but it is closer to the PA Turnpike (Northeast Extension) which is an easy route to Langhorne.
If you don't mind about an hour's drive to Sesame Place, the absolute best CG in my area is Robin Hill Camping Resort off of I-78 in Lenhartsville, PA. A short trip to the PA Turnpike.
With respect to Sesame Place itself, I think of it as one of those places that every parent should take their little ones one time. It's lots of fun for the pre-school crowd, and even some of the adults, too. It is, unfortunately, way overpriced......at least it was back in 1997 when we were there last. Not only is admission expensive, but the food and drink in the park is not "family priced" by any stretch of the imagination. Now I realize it isn't cheap to operate a theme park, labor costs, maintenance, blah, blah, blah. Sesame Place is, however, owned by Anheuser-Busch.....the same fine people who own Busch Gardens and a slew of other theme parks. Oh, yeah, and all those breweries, too. I just think it would be nice if they would cut the young families a break. JMHO
Haven't been there recently enough to comment on the observations about cleanliness, but I have heard much of the same said about other theme parks including Disney World.

Hey thanks for the replies everyone, I had no idea it was not a top notch park. I thought being owned by Anheuser-Busch it couldn't be all that bad. After talking to the DW we will save the money for WDW in ????? still trying decide a date.
Thanks Again

I live about 5 miles from Sesame Place - I agree it's not worth the trip or $$$ and the crowds are out of control. I usually take my kids to Hershey about once a year - that's a much nicer theme park.
For the record, I believe the closest camping is at Bull Island State Park. It's a NJ state park on an Island in the Delaware River - nice setting, maybe 1/2 hour north of Sesame Place. There is also camping at Tohickon Valley county park in PA.

I know that everyone has been critical of Sesame Place, but we took a 3, 2, and one year old there last summer and absolutely loved it. The park is geared towards kids 7 and under so some adults and older kids may not enjoy it. They also have a package where you get 2 days for the price of one which makes it a little more affordable. My 2 year old daughter has not stopped talking about it and we went 9 months ago. If your children enjoy sesame street and you enjoy watching your kids have fun I think you'd like it. We loved it and are planning another trip there in 2006. Also unless your kids enjoy roller coasters Hershey is a waste of time and money. Very dissappointed in it.

My family also found Sesame to be enjoyable when we went. My sons both loved it. It is geared toward the younger crowd. My children were 6 and 1 at the time (two years ago). They had the deal then also that one ticket buys you two days of admission. We didn't find that we needed two days though. It is a smaller park, which is good for little legs and don't miss the rope climb and the ELMO show. My youngest sons eyes got HUGE when he saw his favorite character LIVE!!! After the show, stick around and get their pictures taken with him. Don't miss the parade either. We had a great time and we didn't find it to be dirty at all. Not much help on the campground thing though, we couldn't find one close enough so we ended up staying at a hotel that had a Sesame Place package. Like another post said, you should take your children at least once. We enjoy Hershey too but it has things that the young ones can't do and in my eyes that hurts their feelings a bit to be at such a fun place and can't DO anything. Good luck.
