My new Lance Max 1181 is finally here! I spent the weekend installing the new auto-tracking dome satellite from KVH and the Kyocera 125 watt solar panel and Solar Boost 2000 controller. It was a busy weekend but I was excited to get this thing up to speed so we can hit the road.

The camper did very well on my Chevy DRW; it actually rode better than my old 1120. I have to believe this has to do with both vertical and horizontal CG components.

OK . . . here is the interesting news, after topping my fuel tank off, filling the fresh water and leaving about a half tank of grey water and throwing most of the camping gear we would have on a typical trip I headed down to the scales. Here is the breakout:

Total weight: 12,402 (WOW)
Front Axle: 3,998
Rear Axle: 8,404
Total Truck: 7,432
Total Camper: 4,970

Now keep in mind that this was loaded to the hilt, I wanted to see how the rig would weigh in a worst-case scenario. This includes nearly 400 pounds of fresh/waste water that is pushing the weight to an extreme. The amazing thing is that the truck drove like it was made for that load. Had the Rancho’s set to nine, airbags with 55 lbs and tires at full-recommended pressure. The whole package brings a smile to my face that now feels like a tattoo . . . I just can’t stop grinning.

I am one happy camper.

More photos to come, but here is a peak at the first shots: My new Max 1181

Congratulations! Nice rig. Now you're well on your way to your own 'Netboy'-like site, too!
Thanks for sharing your weight info. I'm about two weeks from delivery of my 1181 that I'll be putting on a GMC 3500DRW. Your numbers are a little scary, but helpful all the same.
Any issues come up during delivery or walk-through that I might want to keep an eye open for?
Have a great time this weekend & the rest of the season!

After market. For the same price Lance wanted for a small 50 watt panel I was able to get a 125 watt with MPPT controller and adjustable brackets. Easy install with the Yakima racks that come with the Lance. I had the factory route the wires to the rear so I could put a larger panel on those racks.

That is one big, loaded rig. No reason to stay at home now.
