Last week I was driving on I 20 approx 30 miles West of Fort Worth,TX when I can upon a Monaco Dynasty motor home that has just rolled over in the center median. Appparently it was passing another vehicle in an underpass with toad in tow and got the left front wheel off the aspahlt and rolled over into the center median. It was a horrible site the motorhome was upside down and the top was completely crushed down to the frane. The motor home was approx four feet tall from front to rear. the Jeep Cherokee that was in tow was still attached to the vehicle or what was left of it. It was almost un recognizable except for the chrome wheels and the emblem still on what was left of the right front fender. My son was also driving a vehicle behind me and since the State Troopers and all vehicles come to a stop and pass slowly he took a photo. He said the only thing he remembered was the legs on one person sticking out under the motor vehicle.

Please slow down and take care when passing other vehicles. That accident and vision will stay with me forever. A front bumper would have help them at all. If my son emails me the photo I will pass it on if you wish.

Don't get an attorney in a fatal auto accident. Are you crazy. This is what the insurance company wants. They can do what they want as you might not know you're rights.

Get one involved ASAP. Insurance companies love to push people around. They are not so quick to push a knowledgeable lawyer around.

Find one that specialized in auto accidents.

I'm sure there will be a suit from the deceased family blaming you for something, there always is.

I have been with State Farm Insurance for more years than I can remember. I have all my business fleet as well as my personal autos and home insured with them. I have never been pushed around by Sate Farm. In the business we have had many claims in the past 23 years and State Farm has always been more than fair. Let them handle everything. It is those people who get an attorney that helps make our insurance rates so high. You need to contact Coach Net or Good Sam or whoever your road side carrier is. They should pay some of your travel expenses.

Ghost:

Like you, I and my family have used State Farm for many years and they have always treated me fairly. I had a minor accident several years ago that was my fault. I felt sure that State Farm would raise my rates or even consider cancelling my insurance. They did neither.

My only concern is my State Farm policy on the coach does not have some of the coverage that RV-specific policies include, such as replacement cost and declining deductible.

rbrogan,

I just wanted to jump in here with some possible help with State Farm. You should not have any difficulties with your coverages because you and the other driver were both insured by them. You coverages should be directly linked with your policy or thiers (depending on fault). If their policy is to cover it, and the limits aren't high enough, the overages should fall back to yours, if you have the proper coverages. I would highly advise you to hold onto every reciept and bill and send copies to your agent.

With that being said, I just want to let you know what research has shown me about State Farm. The company states "Like a Good Neighbor" and they truely try and stick by this statement. The company was noted in the Hardvard Business School book 'The Loyalty Effect' regarding this effect with the company's clients. If you agent does not assist you to what you feel are your coverages, contact the area manager and so on. If all else fails, ask them to speak with their media relations department, they may be able to assist. Don't let them make you pay for something you were paying them to take care of...

Good luck to you. I hope this may help.

Cruzer03 describes the roof structure and the number of rafters. However, a frontal accident's impact is seldom on the room. Winnebago is one of the few manufactures that provides a steel cage for the entire frontal area. It's provides added protection for the driver and the passenger. Most other's use a cage of the same shape, but it's made of aluminum. You decide which is stronger in an accident.

I personally saw a wrecked Winnebago (this also hit by an SUV). The steel cage held up, while everything outside the cage was destroyed: No injuries to the driver or passenger.

I dont believe any type of cage around the driver's area will protect in a roll-over. Even inter-city buses do very poorly in roll-overs, and the light framing RVs have cant do as well. As for thicker fiberglass, on-center span etc...meaningless. 30,000 pounds moving under momentum will crush it in a snap.
