Anyone stay there and have any opinions? We have been mulling around a lot of ideas but settled on staying up there for the Memorial Day Weekend. Theme park close by for the 10 y.o. and it's obviously a beautiful city.

We are staying at Blackwells Island RV park that same weekend.. I think that the KOA is kind of outta town on the east side and on a hillside.. You might want to check Rv park Reviews as I remnember seeing it listed there..There is the C.D. Marathon being run that weekend and it starts downtown on the lake and headfs out to the east,so you might want to take that into consideration also..

We stayed there two years ago and it is a dump. We were going to stay for four nights and ended up staying one night. Go to Blackwell Island, it is a much better place.

KOA is quite a ways out of town and on the wrong side from Silverwood. Blackwell is more central but has few trees and is dusty. Alpine is on HWY 95 just north of Coeur d'Alene right on the way to Silverwood. It is tree covered, lots of grass. It is a small park with a great gas station/convenience store on site. It is my choice for a quiet and convenient park.

I pulled in there a couple years ago and thought I was lucky to make the turns to get out. A friend damaged his trailer making the tight turns. Wouldn't stay there if it were free and with the prices KOA charges, this one has every element of "highway robbery" without the gun and mask.

Concur with Grizzlygiant above.

We have stayed at both the KOA (awful) and Blackwell Island (fair). Blackwell Island is directly across from a 24/7 saw mill. The noise really got to us after 3 days. On our last trip we drove up and checked out Alpine and found it to be the best of the lot for that area. We will certainly stay in Alpine next time.

have a good trip.

If you have a rig of any size, do not try that particular KOA. THe sites are terraced and hard to get into. It was noisy too. We thought we were getting a pull thru and there are only 2 of them, I think. We frequent KOAs but not this one ever again. Queeniereads aka Judi

Wow...you guys having me scared out of my mind about this place. So far we have 5 people who say it's aweful or a dump...why? Other than being a tough drive, why didn't you like it. It is under new managment so maybe these issue have been addressed?

Just curious....

I certainly wouldn't say it is a DUMP....we stayed 2 years ago and it was clean and well maintained. However....it is terraced and at the time I was pulling a 28 ft travel trailer. Our site was about half way up the hill I can say that it was a REAL challenge to back into our spot - and I consider myself very good at backing. With our fifth wheel I would probably look for a different campground in the area.

Well, I wouldn't say I am a pro at backing up whatsoever.....actually, it couldn't be further from the truth. BUT, what I am good at is taking my time. I say grab a beer and watch me for a while.....I don't care.
