Looking for ford f350 4wd drw owners that have had to replace their front tires because of them "cupping" real bad.
Truck came with general tires, would like info on what you used and if they improved on the cupping problem.

"Cupping" is mostly seen on trucks.
Causes are tire pressure too low, shocks worn, too much rake in the trucks
empty stance and not rotating the tires every 3K-5K miles (at each oil change).
Alignment too, but not likely. Balance too, but again, not likely.
Best management is to rotate them often.
Here's two pictures of one around my parents house. Just had to take a pic to
show on these forums, as not many know what cupping is. This one so bad, the
cup's have touched each other.

"Cupping can be caused by an unbalanced tire condition, faulty wheel bearings, loose parts, fatigued springs or weak shock absorbers. Check the condition of the shock by forcefully bouncing the front end of the car several times and releasing it on the down stroke. Failure of the vehicle to settle after two bounces suggests worn shocks or struts."

Failure to rotate does not cause cupping. Rotation just evens the wear among all the tires...you will have rapid wear.
Continental-General tires aren't the best tires in any case, and might be responsible for this. It would be smart to have a good front end shop look things over. If the truck is still under warranty, have the dealership check for defective front end parts.

All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.
