My view is different. I think the prices for used motorhomes bottomed out in Novemmber. Nearly new units will still be going down in price for awhile, though.

Trying to time any market is foolish. Some people will take their units off the market and wait for better times. If you can find the unit you want at a good price, buy it. Don't forget, fewer sales of new RVs now means fewer slightly used ones in the future.

Not all of us are so desperate we will continue to drop the price to give-away levels. The DW and I are looking to downsize from our Class A but I am simply going to remove it from the market and wait it out. We are leaving for a florida trip in Janaury so even if I got a buyer now they would have to wait till I got back or take it on the end of the trip.
If you find what you love.......and it is priced at the point you can afford then go for it. I assume when spring gets here and inventories start getting tight the prices are going to level out. Simple supply and demand for coaches. So many less being made now will mean price stabilization some time in the future.

I think (and really only guess) that we are at or near the bottom. Consumer confidence sucks and has for several months, winter has set in and that is always slower. next spring people who are on the sidelines and who can afford it might just say "what the heck I'm not getting any younger." and jump in. Doesn't mean that I believe prices will jump next spring, just that I don't guess them going radically lower than they already have.
Used is quite a hunt anyway, you have to find that unit that fits your floorplan/size/chassis and it has to be well kept and reasonably priced. I think if you find all of the above today you might as well buy it.

Guess work and risk. Two years ago, if I knew then what I know now about the industry, I would certainly be buying now. You can sure get a lot more coach now for what I paid for this coach a little over two years ago. It's just the way it is and I'm living with it. Because I certainly can't get the trade I need right now to move up. So I like my coach. Life goes on.
It's certainly nice to be in a position to be shopping for a rig now. YOur going to get a lot for your money. But if we knew when it was going to stop going down, wouldn't it be great. Buying today is still good, even if it continues to drop. And I don't think they will be giving them away anytime soon. Another factor while shopping is the interest rate. Don't just ask the rate. Ask more if's and ands about the financing. There a lot going on there now that can certainly bite you later.
oh well,

We are nowhare near the bottom. all compasses point to 2010 being the worst that is when the bulk money companies cant stay afloat anymore or thier parent investment companies decide to cut the losses. If I lose my job I doubt I will be able to sell the moho so it will have to get repo'd, but Im sure the loan company will work with me as I know they dont want it. So I believe thier will be quite a few insane deals to be had, but for me it was timing.

This is good advice no matter what it is you are looking to purchase. Do your homework on everything and then there is a lot less chance of surprises. This way a person really knows if they are looking in the correct price range and if they can 'really afford' it(even after the purchase). Once the decision is made, act on it and then be happy with it. I see a lot of people that either make a hasty decision then are unhappy with whatever they purchased or they just can't seem the let the fact go that they possibly would have gotten a better deal if they would have waited and then dwell on that. This definately detracts from the enjoyment factor. Mike.

As Hank said if you find what you want at a price you are willing to pay go for it! Especially in a used coach. While I might find a better price today on my coach it would have to used since National bit it a year ago. We like our coach and don't regret buying it, for one I would have a year and a half of vacations I wouldn't have enjoyed with it!

As long as supply exceeds the collective willingness and ability to purchase (demand) prices will decline. For the unit you want, where you are, right now - who knows?

I agree with the others.
We wanted to replace our older Class A, which we knew would not outlast our desire to travel with a new coach that hopefully, we can use for a long time. When the RV market hit a wall this year – diesel prices were sky high and many people were saying we’d never again see fuel for less than $5/gallon – financing was hard for most people to get – we went shopping. When there is blood on the floor, it's time to buy.
I’m a deal lawyer by day, so I negotiate complex, high dollar deals for a living - negotiating on a new MH was child’s play. Since we were paying cash (I don’t believe in financing toys) financing was a non-issue. And I was under no compulsion to buy – the old one was serving just fine – so we were not going to proceed unless everything suited us - the perfect negotiating position.
Bottom line - we were able to cut an absolutely phenomenal deal on what I considered the ideal MH for us. Could I have done better if I waited? Dunno. Doesn’t matter. I’m very happy with what we did.
