Newbie here. First cold season approaching:
Do/Can U use your propane furnace while driving?
Does the generator have to be on first like with the rooftop AC?

Sure. It runs off 12 volts and your alternator will keep up the batteries just fine.

One good reason to use it in sub freezing temps is that it will, normally, keep your plumbing from freezing. I was surprised how warm it was in my utility bay, one year, when I was camping in November.

Our DSDP's have a seperate blower motor in the wet bay that can be set to run when the furnace runs. Other RV's do too, but some have no provisions for heating the bays, no universal way to do it.

Yes, we run the furnace if the outside temp is cold enough to freeze your pump or tanks - (therefore temps below about 20 degrees). If the outside climate is milder -- we usually will just do with dash heat if we can attain a good comfort range. We do absolutely turn on the propane furnaces if the dash heat isn't sufficient to keep the coach comfortable especially if you have guests onboard seated behind the driver's area.

If you don't, things WILL freeze! Parked, my wet bays will maintain 50's to 60's even with outside in temps below 20, but when driving, those bays will drop into the low 40's or 30's even with the furnace running.

Yes-run the furnace-No you don't have to run the generator.
