Like a lot of others slow loading, slow start up and slow downloads. Well get this I performed defrag spysweep etc.same problems. I am using verizon air card and had a 24 inch usb extension wire to the air card for ease of moving from one computer to the other, well you guess it I just pluged the air card directly to computer(the way it was desigined)and all my problems ae cured.I hope this might help others.

It's possible that you were using a low quality or small gage wire USB cable. Mine came with a cable and there have been times when I've moved the air card to get a better signal.

Most likely you had a USB 1 cable and a USB 2 card and port. USB 1 cables aren't built to operate at USB 2 speeds.

I'm not a computer guru, but I don't see how a longer USB cord to your aircard, which is what I have ((48") to get height and clear window view) could cause your computer to have a slow startup. Obviously it does on your computer, but that doesn't really make sense to me.
Slow downloads and internet activity/connection does make sense but I haven't experience that problem, but I run my aircard and USB cord into a powered USB hub also.

My Verizon UM150 air card comes with a USB cable with 2 USB connectors on the computer end. The second USB connector contains power connections only and can help in remote areas. I would assume that the cable has larger gauge wire and the additional power can help with the usable range in some cases.

You are talking about low voltage equipment here, USB power is all of 5 volts. That does not jump dirty/corroded contacts, dust, etc. at all well, so it is quite likely that removing/replacing your cable can make a dramatic difference.
