If you have travelled I-10 west (from Tallahassee, for example) to get to Henderson Beach State Park, what route do you prefer? We've been to the area once, to stay at Topsail, and we exited at Defuniak Springs and travelled 331 to 98. When getting directions for Henderson, it says to take exit 70, FL285, then FL20, then FL293 (toll road).

In my opinion, the best way is to get there on 98.(331 to 98)
When you reach Topsail, you continue about 11 more miles and Henderson beach SP is on the left across from Walmart.

I've traveled from the East on I-10 and went the way you did in the past. IMHO it's the shortest and best route.

I agree with the previous posters. Additionally, avoid the toll bridge from Valparaiso to Destin. Depending on the number of axles you have, it can get expensive. It was the "seven dollar bridge" with our two-axle motorhome. Now it is the "12 dollar bridge" since the price went up, and we now have a tag axle with toad. It may even be more now!

Thank you foxy, Hambone, and Art!

Thank you, Patsy. That is the toll bridge/road mentioned in the directions. We'll do the 331 to 98 route.

Taking the toll road keeps you out of the traffic on 98 which can be murder sometimes.

83 / 331 to 98. I avoid the toll bridge. It always seems like more miles to me if I take it. But I'm usually coming in from the other direction.

If you are taking Hwy 331 there is a new section of 331 that bypasses taking into Freeport and having to make a left on SR 20 to get back onto Hwy 331. It's four lanes and is a straight shot to Hwy 98.
