I have a trip already planned only to find out that about 100 of the 300 full hookup sites will be out for repairs in 2010. To top it off the reservations will not start until early April 2010 per last years schedule.

Question are there any full hoopups close to Banff. I do not seem to find any within 25 miles.

We stayed at Spring Creek
in Canmore last year. Pretty decent facility. WiFi didn't make it past the porch on the office, but otherwise no complaints.

So what is your problem. Lastyear I had NO trouble getting afull hook-up site in Tunnel Mountain Cg for Labour Day weekend and the following week and I did not get on line until April something! And yes - one third of that cg was closed last year also - for repairs (new sewer/water lines) So don't give up if that is where you want to be. We also like the fhu sites in Lake Louise cg.

If you go online the same day they start taking them, you shouldn't have an issue getting reservations. If you do have an issue, as already mentioned, check around Canmore. If you don't mind going a little further, I always stay at Mt. Kidd in Kananaskis country. (but Mt. Kidd always books up faster than Tunnel Mountain).

We too stayed on a full hookup site at Tunnel Mountain, late last July. We booked late and had no problem getting a site.

It's located such that it is just a short drive into the village, and with easy access back out to the highway if you want to run out to Lake Louise, Canmore, etc.

We stayed at Lake Louise in September and there were no full hookup sites. The did have sites with electric. It was a nice campground central to attractions in the NP. Drove to the Banff townsite one day and the Columbia Icefield on another day.

Mt Kidd books up fast cause it is a real campground... I can't stand the tunnel mountain 'parking lot'.

We visited Banff and stayed at Tunnel Mountain for a week last summer. If you don't want the 'parking lot' atmosphere as mentioned by a previous poster I would suggest booking in the trailer court area.

Bow Valley CG has a few full hookups, it is about 45km east of Banff so might be a bit too far for you.

If you are not set on spending a lot of time in Banff but want to spend some time on the Icefields Parkway you could try David Thompson CG it's on Hwy 11 east of Saskatchewan River Crossing, they have all facilities.
