I have a convenient quick disconnect for propane in the lower side of my Crossroads Cruiser fifth wheel. I am told it is a low pressure propane connection. I also have a table top propane grill that I have a long hose to connect it to a standard propane (20 lb) tank or one of those small propane bottles.
I want to know if and how I can connect my grill to my quick disconnect on the lower side of the unit.
Thanks

Your grille probably already has a regulator which means it may or may not work correctly when connected to the trailer. The quick connect on the trailer is most likely regulated at the tanks. Connecting the grille directly to the quick connect might work but at a lower heat output. You might have to remove the grille regulator and bypass it when connected to the trailer. This can be accomplished using a variety of adapters/ hoses and quick connect fittings. This is what I did for my Weber grille. If you have a propane dealer nearby, they can make up hoses and provide fittings.

You need to remove the pressure regulator from your grill, because you have a pressure regulator on your propane system already.
Take your grill to any BBQ shop and they will fix you up.
I had them built mine with a quick disconnect on the grill and quick disconnects on the regulator so that I can use it with a regular propane tank if I want to.

Your portable will not work on the tailer port. The portable has been set up for a higher propane pressure than you trailer port has. I know because I have been there and could not get enough heat from the poratble to be of any use. They make units designed for the lower pressure. They are usually pricy and large.

As falconman and 4*phun*2 said, remove the regulator from the portable grill. The pressure from the quick connect is 11 inches water and the output of most grill regulators is 11 inches water. I modified my Coleman Roadtrip and have a 15 foot hose from the grill to the TT quick connect, makes for an easy setup.

Gene and Genny:
How do you adjust the flame in the grill if you remove the original regulator from the grill? Is there some sort of adjustment part that I need to connect to the hose? I already have a 10 foot hose but do not know where to get the needed parts or what parts to get so that it all safely works together. Sorry to be so ignorant but this is all new to me. Thanks for your help.

Some grills, the Weber for instance, have the gas regulator (for flame height) separate from the regulator. On those grills, it is a simple matter to remove the regulator, replace it with a quick-connect, and the burner controls remain functional. Other grills, those that have the burner control built into the regulator, are either not convertible to low pressure disconnects or very expensive to do so. They would require that the control / regulator unit be removed and some sort of burner control added, along with a quick-connect.
Best bet may be to buy one of the Weber grills; remove the regulator, put on the quick-connect and you're good to go. There are other brands out there that have separate burner controls and regulators, but, the Weber seems to be the most popular ( I have the Weber Q-120 and two hoses, 4' and 12' ).

My flame adjustment is on the grill itself, one knob for each of the 2 burners and after the regulator. As webslave mentioned above, some have the adjustment as part of the regulator.
Here is an older post and thread where it was discussed and where I got the idea.

My rv grill has a reg that a disposable bottle hooks to and I had to tap in between the first and second stage regs (at the dual rv tanks) to get enough pressure (about 18 psi) to make the grill get to high fire. Most of the 2 stage rv regs are one casting but mine is 2 pieces with a 1/4" nipple in between. I had to keep the reg at the grill cuz it was also the burner adjustment. I got a fitting at a propane supplier that screws into the grill reg and made up a 25' hose that comes from the center tap on the tank regs. Craig

I teed in a quick connect before the regulator on the trailer inside the propane tank compartment. I just poke a hose up through the underside of the compartment and hook up my grill that has it's own regulator.
