We have a 2001 22000lbs F53 chassis. Every time I go to get parts for it, I am always asked if it is like a F450 or what. Does anyone actually know what it goes by?

Yes, it is a F-53 which denotes a unfinished ford chassis built for motor home use. For filters, plugs, ign. wires etc. use F-550 V-10. For "hard parts" that will not work as the chassis are different, go to Ford for that.

It's not a F450 chassis... The F450 has a GVWR of 14,500 lbs.
The new F53 chassis comes with GVWR of 24,000 or 26,000. they are made specifically for Gas A motorhomes

My VIN comes up as a 2004 F-550 Motorhome strip chassis. My local Ford dealer services it as a 2004 F550.

Same here - a VIN check shows it as a Ford F550.

For engine, transmission, and brake parts, tell them it's a F550.

I too have a class A MH built on a 2001 Ford F-550 22,000lb chassis. The window sticker I have from Ford showing sale and delivery to Winnebago's dealer entity shows it as an F-550. I also have the 2001 Ford Body builder book and it only refers to the F-Super Duty Class A Motorhome Chassis. It doesn't appear Ford built an F-53 chassis in 2001.
