Just a thought, but is OSB(Oriented Strand Board) present in this area?

OSB can give off a bad odor, especially if mixed with Ammonia.

How can I tell? What does OSB look like? Would that be anything like the Chinese dry wall?

Some times electrical issues/problems will create a ozone smell, maybe try disconnecting battery and shore power for a day or two...see if smell goes away.
