Hello all! I am taking a circuitous trip up north and planning a trip home (St. Augustine area) on Friday, December 23rd. I am not taking Irv (the Motorhome) on this trip, but would still like to avoid the worst traffic days.
From what I have heard and seen, the snowbird influx really begins right after Christmas...is that accurate?
What do you think is the best day to make the trip from Baltimore to St. Augustine?
Thanks,
Jason

Are you really concerned that the roads will be so clogged with RVers that you won't be able to drive down the road?
I have always heard that February was the busiest month.
I would pick a day or two that do not predict snow/rain or other and go for it.

For years we traveled down I-95 from New Jersey to Southern Florida to take the kids to see Grandma and Grandpa for the Christmas Holidays. Usually the traffic was really heavy, sometimes totally jammed especially if there was any construction. I personally would try to avoid that Friday - with Christmas on Sunday, everybody and their uncle is going to be headed south, and that is going to be the busiest day.

Thank you for everyone's input. It is not so much that I am afraid I won't be able to get down the road, but that one day would be worse than another.
My plan is probably to take 15/81 south from PA and join 95 in the South. I may even shoot over to 301, unless that has turned into a cluster over the last couple of decades.

Wow! The local news said there is going to be 93 million travelers on the highways, not even taking into account airlines, trains and buses. Be safe, Don't get hurried. Irover

I have been going to Florida from Pa for 17 years and I use to leave day after Christmas but never again, its move up and stop traffic, 23rd may be a good day but I have learned that Christmas day I 95 has very little traffic on it,so I leave while ever one is getting up to see what Santa brought, I make it down to Exit 41 in North Carolina first day then after that traffic isn,t bad, on that day I take 15 to 270, hit the belt way around D C (no traffic) and drop onto I 95
