Any one care to hazarad a guess on what effect not being able to get ULSD in Mexico has had on it's tourist/snowbird economy.
We've got two couples with new rigs that canceled Mexico because of it and are staying in Texas for the winter.

Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel fuel.

The dealership I work at sells Volvo cars. Recently, the Volvo engineers came though while testing a fleed of diesel cars and SUVs.
They had their own diesel fuel shipped in from Sweden. They said the U.S. is VERY dirty and would foul up their diagnostic equipment.

Most europeans consider the "colonies" to be provincial. I happen to disagree.

I see people every year taking newer trucks into Mexico & taking the chance. None seem to have an issue, but I imagine if they let the dealer know, it would void their warranty. I now of one person who took a late model dodge to Panama & back & did have an issue, but that was a lot of tanks of regular diesel.

One of the critical points seems to be whether or not a vehicle has a particulate filter. If yes, there have been credible reports of regular mexican diesel clogging the filter necessitating repair costing more than a thousand dollars.

Great, so the Volvo guys bring their own fuel to calibrate their cars. Then when they send new models over here they'll wonder why they're having problems.

mexbungalos: Any vehicle that requires ULSD has a particulate filter. I have never heard of any other way of complying with the 07 requirements. Are you saying that it can be done without the DPF?

Some people do a delete of the Particle filter & EGR crap. It voids the warrenty of thier truck, but runs much better. Also gets way better MPG's.
