Seems like you're asking permission in a way. You know your mom and her needs. I feel that at 93, your focus should be totally respectful of her. If she's truly capable, have a blast. If not, scale back or do what's right for her. FWIW, I totally respect your involvement.

We travel with my soon to be 93 year old dad. He has demetia, a catheter with bag, and can no longer walk so he is wheelchair bound. But otherwise he's strong and healthy. He has always loved travelling and up until he was 85 drove a 36ft MH between California and Indiana each year. So when he came to live with us it just didn't seem right to give up our travels.

We have added a Burr Handi-Lift to our 5th wheel to get him in and out. I use a Hoyer Patient lift to get him up into the MDT for travel. Most of the RV parks have handicap showers so it's convenient to get him cleaned up.

He loves to ride around the RV parks in a mobility scooter and see all of the big RVs. Especially the buses.

It's a little inconvenience, countered by the big smiles he gets while looking at some sight along the way. Both my wife and I enjoy having him around in our travels.

How wonderful. Mom's not that bad. Doesn't see a doctor too often, sees pretty good, and takes care of herself. So I can see taking her along would be a lot easier than your situation. Thanks for the care you're giving him.

Keep in mind full timing doesn't have to be like a 2 week cross country trip. We rarely cover more than 150 miles in a day and then usually stay at least a couple days (often a week or more) before moving on. As long as she can be comfortable, enjoy's traveling and does't have any special medical needs why make her live the rest of her life without travel. Doctor's appointments can be scheduled when you swing back thru your home area or they have doctors in other states.

My parents went in with my father's parents to buy a MH back in the early 80's because my Grandfather had a harder time doing the long roadtrips as he aged. They used it to take trips to the Oregon coast and back to visit family in Nebraska every other year.

I'd do the same with our parents, but they are all gone now. A missed opportunity.

If her mind is sharp, she can keep a reasonable pace, and you both want to go then nothing is holding you back.

My Mom is a bit younger and no longer has the energy or mind for travel. She came along plenty when she could but not anymore. Go while you can.

My mom's 90 an I've taken her on many 4 day trips and two long uration trips to Northern California and Oregon over the last 4 years. She loved the trips and was no problem as she's very self sufficient. Go for it! I hope to take her on another trip to Oregon later this year.

We just started taking the MIL with us for some of the trips. We did a weekend trip to see if she liked it.

Although the longer trips will still be the DW and me, the MIL will be welcome to tag along for any weekend adventure that she wants. She turns 70 this year so we hope to have many years Rving together.

PS the cats like having her around as a spare lap.
