OK do you pick your team by:

The state you live in?

By Family tradition?

Because that team to you is a winner?

Do not want to be a follower, pick my own?

Raised in Chicago, but never a Bear Fan. Lived in WI. favored the Packers over the bears all the time.
BUT I have always been a Raiders Fan. Win or Loose.
Have never lived in CA. and never want to.
So I guess I fall into the NOT wanting to be a follower. Make my own choice.

Born & raised in Cincinnati, but not a Bengals fan. Paul Brown knew football. Mike Brown knows money. Bengals only sold out the last game this year, and that was a two for one ticket deal, so it could be televised.
I miss the old Packers. Mud covered, meaner than yard dogs, and the defense didn't have 20 teeth between them.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Chose my father-in-law's team. Otherwise he would not give permission to marry his daughter. Therefore, I am a Packer fan via family. Wife and I have been married since December 1965. Turned out to be a great choice for me. Every husband should be so fortunate.

I pick my teams by:
1. Where I went to school
2. Where my kids went to school
3. Teams I hate that play either #1 or #2 above. For example, I am a Sooner fan and cheer for them and whoever is playing Texas.

So my teams are:
1. Oklahoma
2. Hartselle
3. Chattanooga
4. Alabama
5. Whoever is playing Texas, LSU, Russellville, or Cullman.

This year, TWO of my teams won their respective championships. It was a good year.

MASS - Working 15min from Gillette Stadium. Have always been a Pats Fan...... It's been a lot of fun for the last 10 years, after many years of continued suffering before that!

I chose my college football teams by Universities my children attended such as USF, UF, UCF, & Iowa State.
I chose my NFL teams by some inner feelings I have towards a team member such as Broncos for Tebow or Colts & Giants for the Manning boys. I guess you could say I pick my teams because I am a mother and I think like a mother whether towards my own or strangers.

I choose by whomever is playing on the tube. I love watching baseball both college & pro, college football & basketball. Refuse to watch any pro basketball & watch very little pro football. So no favorite team, just whomever I can watch.

Where I live, football is life.

My son got a college scholarship for playing football (defensive back).
My dad played off and def throughout hs (in the Depression, while keeping a full time job).
In this house, on Sundays, no one talks during a drive. No one cooks, no one visits. If you wander in, take a chair and "shh," I'll talk to you after the game

Canton is an hour north of me.
Pittsburgh is half-an-hour east of me.
I've been to God-only-knows how many HoF inductions. I saw Dan Marino play for Pitt. The ortho doc who set my leg was the Panther's team physician. My father was just tickled with those tickets.
I saw Bradshaw his first season starting and Franco Harris in his first start.

1st college game I saw was Notre Dame at home. My dad said "dress warm, get in the car" and we drove for 16 hours. I would go anywhere with my dad because it always fun, but all I remember about that game was the fat guy in front of me and the wooden seat.

1st pro game was at Forbes Field in '67 or '68.
Steelers lost. They did that until Chuck Noll, then games were noisy and fun.
1st Three Rivers game was '71, versus Cleveland. We almost went to the opener (Houston, we lost), but my dad switched work.
1st Heinz Field game was also V the Browns, '02. Won again.

I have never been to a Steelers game that they lost. For years after my ex-b/f and I broke up, we went to games together. He was superstitious, if he wore his Steeler socks and brought me, Pittsburgh won. Kinda explains the '95 season playoffs, Lord knows Neil O'Donnell had little to do with it.

I met Terry Bradshaw once when my mom was getting her hair cut. He wandered in and I was the only person in the salon who knew who he was. So he 'talked football' with a 12-yr old girl. Very nice man.

My favorite Steeler? Jack Lambert. He became a forest ranger after he quit football.

Trish, you must be from my original neck of the woods, Steubenville, Ohio, because football is life in the upper Ohio Valley and Pittsburgh is 1/2 hour away from Steubenville and it used to take an hour of driving for my dad & I to watch the Canton "Bull Dogs" semi-pro football team. I'm a big PITT fan, Steeler fan, and The Ohio State "Buckeyes!" Under coach Reno S. The Steubenville "Big Red" are good every year, especially in "Death Valley!" Am I pretty close? Bags.
