Guys,I'm looking at a 2005 LTV Free Spirit 22' B with 30,000 miles. It has the Mercedes Diesel Engine with propane gennie.Leather seats and electric bed,A/C,TV,MW,the usual stuff. It is in good condition. As far as I can tell,NADA average retail is around $35,000.00,but I can't find the options list for it to determine actual value.I think I can get it for around $40,000.The dealers seem to be asking lots more, around $50,000 to $55,000 for this model, which seems too much, but they usually deal some. The resonator has been replaced and it runs great. What are your opinons as to it's true value, being 7 years old?

Funtogo,

I want to follow your post. I don't think I can help you, but we have thoughts of going to a Class B and just want to follow your post.

When you say the resonator has been replace, what do you mean??

Good luck!

I have a LTV freedom serenity II just a little bigger yr 2007 I 5 MB diesel . just the best darn small C out there. we,ve droven to Az two times never under 20 mpg mostly 22.24 at 65mph. more power than you need. in our opinion the LTV is the best small C out there ,24ft not the one your looking at but same company .THE resonator is a breahter for the turbo charger MADE OF PLASTIC it cracks so we have changed to a metal one .cost about $90. and takes about 20min to change A do it yourself job two clamps two little bolts . I,VE had A, B, C, and truck rv . this is the best of them all . goes any where .cheap to drive and holds valvue . under 40K would be fare price in my book. start way lower and barter your way to a fare price.

We have a 2005 Free Spirit LSS with over 60,000 wonderful miles. To buy one for $40,000 sounds good to me. I have seen dealers selling that year for $55,000. We replaced the original plastic resonator with the metal one, too. No big deal.

I can't say enough good things about our Free Spirit and the company is terrific. I think you will be very pleased should you decide to make the purchase.

You can send us a private message should you have specific questions.

Ditto what others have said. We have over 100K miles on our 2005 FreeSpirit that we bought new. That 100K miles includes two trips to Alaska and travel to 49 states (Hawaii is a challenge) and most of the Canadian provinces. It is a solid product and we have no complaints.

We have had the plastic resonator go out twice. Both were changed out under warranty. Even when it goes out, the Sprinter "limp home mode" avoided a bad experience. We now carry a spare that a generous RV.net member gave us that they had as a spare when they decided to replace it with a metal one.

Both the Sprinter chassis and the LTV conversion are excellent. I would not hesitate to take it on a long and remote trip now, like the Alaska trip.

If it has 30K miles and has been maintained as prescribed by Diamler, I think $40K is an excellent price.

Ditto. Price at 40 sounds about right based on what we paid to an individual, not an owner. We paid more but ours was two years newer at the time and had a little less miles.

Totally happy with it, great product.

Correction, meant to say we bought from an individual, not a dealer.

Yeah,Herculez, the other posters covered the turbo resonator thing well. Why they put a plastic one on to begin with,is beyond me.To save money,I guess. It caused lots of unneeded problems, though. The metal one seems the way to go.
I go back and forth on Class B or Class C.I have always liked lots of room in my RV and thus the hesitation in buying a B,but it seems like we would use it lots more for other short trips because of the ease of parking and driving it.It might be worth a try. That's the only way to know for sure.It would be good for traveling and the occasional nite on the road.

NCWriter, thanks.I am still looking for a list of options for that year to determine value. Not sure if A/C,M/W,hitch,spare,electric bed, etc. were options or standards.

I put 61,000 miles many through the grueling Rocky Mountains on a 2005 Pleasure-way Sprinter without needing to replace the turbo resonator. I even bought the metal version as a spare just in case. The new owner has it. It is an easy to replace item. You could do it yourself if you had to and I think any repair shop could do it.

Last year when I traded in my 2005 Pleasure-way Plateau which is equivalent to the LTV Free Spirit in most all ways the dealer put it back on the market for $56,000. I have no idea what it sold for. But just figuring another year of discounting it 10% down to $50,000, a $40,000 offer is not a bad price if you can get it. At 30,000 miles that is better than mine and that vintage Sprinter is going for a premium in that they seem to be holding their resale value. I also think there is a 2007-2009 new design chassis gap where many Class B converters were selling a 2500 chassis that I think is borderline for weight which makes the 2005 more valuable, IMO. They have since most all woke up to that realization.
