I had a Ford dealer price out a super crew EB and he couldn't find a max tow package for the XLT model. Any reason why it's not available?
Also when I try to price out the same model as above, using the Ford site as, I recall, when you choose max. tow, you can't select the EB engine.

Have him add the 3.73 axle, that will force the Max Tow package. You can see the spec bumps when you use the online configurator with that combo (3.73 + Ecoboost).

Xlt has a full line up of towing and hauling packages available. It and the XL are the only trim levels that are available for the HD Payload option and when you order the HD Payload you automatically get the HD Towing. It is also available as an individual package.

If you add the HD package as well as the Max tow on the super crew EB 4X4, it will be 11,100. You have no choice but the 3.73, but you do get to choose non-slip or limited slip. ....
It prices out about $44,000 with all the options except navigation and DVD and then you can start haggling.
I ordered one in December, but it has not yet arrived.

After going over the work sheet again, I noticed the dealer was pricing the XL instead of XLT model. Also wondering how to decide whether to go with limited slip diff. or automatic diff. Can someone explain the difference and which one is best?

For the life of me I can't understand why someone would go EB over a 2500 CTD. The prices are very close. The mileage is close also. Towing mileage is actually much better. I think the CTD runs cleaner with DPF.

I orderd a XLT S/crew Ecoboost with HD payload and max tow last Saturday. With the HD package you get a 3.73 limited slip diff. Emailed 5 dealers for quotes, price varied by $2K. Best offer (with incentives) was approx $7.5k off sticker. If you are looking for a "ballpark" estimate take a look at truecar.com. Received vin # today along with a projected build date the week of Feb 27th.

Very close on price?
F150 2wd supercrew XLT Ecoboost/auto MSRP 36,800
Ram 2500 2wd crewcab SLT Cummins/auto MSRP 42,300
Certainly both have their positives and negatives, which have been hashed and rehashed. But they both have strength when used for their intended purposes. If you do more than say 20% of your miles towing, you might be better off with the Ram. If you commute with your truck, and tow a trailer 6 times a year, you might prefer the Ecoboost.

Ford doesn't offer an Automatic Diff. Your two options are a limited slip, or a selectable electric locker.
The Limited slip is pretty good for the majority of drivers, along with the electronic traction control, probably get you out of most sticky situations, and requires no input from the driver to function.
The selectable Electric locker actually locks both rear tires together when the button is pulled on the dash. It is not ideal for driving on any solid road surface, and is best used in extreme offroad situations.
I personally would get the selectable locker, but would advise most people I know to get the limited slip.
