Is the humidity level during winter in RGV more like Florida, or AZ, or somewhere in the middle? DW is not happy about her dry skin here in AZ, and the dog's arthritis seems worse too.

I can look up the numbers, I suppose. But thought I'd ask here instead.

This morning its 93%. We are getting rain today. It is not as humid as FL. Nor as dry as AZ.

It is "in the middle", just as Ron stated. My wife did not care for AZ due to the dry air. She had an almost daily nose bleed which a little more humidity fixed.

We left IL and went to AZ for 5 weeks I thought I would love the dry air but I did not get along with it very well I think it was too big of a shock to my system, we moved down to the RGV and I feel a lot better, the sun does not shine as bright in the valley, but the air sure agrees with me more, I think I have found my winter home

The humidity levels in the RGV are directionally proportional to the horizontal distance between Florida and Arizona . In the middle

Don't forget that Texas has many snowbird places. The RGV is just one of them (plus there is even and upper and lower RGV.)

Your wife may find the humidity level just right in the RGV, but not like the sugar cane ash that can happen during the winter in the RGV. This could bother her even more then the dry humidity of AZ.

So keep your options open if you do book for next winter in the RGV and don't commit to any one place for long term until you get a feel for the area.

BTW, I'm currently in the lower Valley (salt air) and I run a dehumidifier almost daily otherwise the fabric in the rig gets a sticky feel to it. Never needed to do that when we were in central Florida for the winter so from my perspective Florida is drier.

As J&J stated, there is more than one part to the RGV. The "valley" starts at the gulf and heads inland. Many first timers want to be close to the water, but they soon find out that this is not for everyone. Most Winter Texans stay between San Benito (in the east) and Mission (in the west).
