We just returned from a couple of weeks in Mazatlan. On our daily walks on the beach, we walked past the Mar Rosa RV park. The place looked wonderful and we picked up the price list and other info for the future. We talked to a couple of people there, and they loved the place. It wasn't very full the first week but was starting to get full when we left. Probably because Carnival is coming later this month.

We are considering making this our winter destination in the future. Anyone else stayed here? What are your thoughts on staying here for an extended period? Do you have any recommendations for overnight stays on the drive down?

Since you picked up the literature for the place, how about sharing it with the rest of us?

We stayed at Mar Rosa for a week. Loved the place!!!
Owner's son was very friendly in fact everyone was.
Prices are better the farther you are from the beach.
Large Motor Homes generally fill the beach front for the winter season.

Just down the road is a very good restaurant.
Can't remember the name, just look for the line out front.

Mar Rosa is the most expensive park in Mazatlan, all the parks are singing the blues, in years past there were more sites and 100 % full in Feb.

I predict that this will be the next park to close, the Kids of the elderly lady that own it will sell soon as she gone.. ( I know many Mex families that are selling off there parents land, and enjoying life .

The Land is worth Big $$$$ to much money to be made by selling or building a condo tower. Then the income from a part time RV park.

We stay there when in Maz. Always a good experience. Great staff. Great location.

The restaurant you are referring to is either the purple onion or the fat fish (pez gordo).

Our preference is the latter.

The Purple Onion is a great spot but alas I read that it is closed and has reopened with a different theme.

Mar Rosa is where we always stay in Mazatlan, and when passing through. Prices? Depends on your length, and what row you want to stay in. We are short enough to be able to stay in the last two rows from the beach, still really close, and the prices for those two rows are the cheapest in Mazatlan. Their electrical connections, 30amp, are outstanding, and the bathrooms always clean. They have an on demand boiler, so there is always hot water, so you can shower for as long as you want! Security is effective, unobtrusive and friendly. If, like we do, you live and work on line, you cannot beat the quality of their internet, even in the US.
Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for us, the last two years have been very sparse. Last winter, there was literally not a single day that you could not have pulled into a site in the front row. The days of, "sorry, the front row is full and reserved for next year," are over. It was fun seeing everything from HUGE rigs to tents and vans in the front.
It's future? What do any of us know about our own? La Senora is now in her 90's, and looking and feeling great. The grandchildren who will ultimately inherit the site are extremely well educated, and have ties to the park. Why would they shut it down while it still makes a little money when the land likely wouldn't sell in this economy? But again, who knows?
One things for sure, if you make a deposit on site, and the place does close, I have no doubt that you would receive your deposit back. Can't say that about too many places!!!!
Yes, we will be there for a few nights when we are headed north.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

We have never pulled our 5th wheel into Mexico. If we decide to stay at Mar Rosa for the winter, what are the best routes there from the states? We would be coming from Ohio and not straight down the US west coast.

Any recommendations on overnight facilities on the way to Mazatlan?
