Should I be adjusting my tire pressure when towing? Is the load on your tires really that heavy? Just as an example, my '06 Jeep Rubicon came from the factory with Load Range E tires on it. Jeep says inflate to 33 PSI for normal road use. The tire sidewall says to inflate to 80 PSI to carry the maximum load. Since there is no way I can ever put enough stuff in the Jeep to get to the maximum load for the tires, I follow the instructions given by Jeep. To directly answer your question about adjusting tire pressures when towing, all I can give is a definite MAYBE! Adjust the pressure according to load. You want the tread flat on the road, not bulging in the middle or riding on the edges. Use the pressure that will give you the flat tread.
