We are currently at The Great Outdoors in Titusville, Florida, and man, this place is very nice, and has it all. Plus, with the warmer weather they are having, we get South Florida weather at the Central Florida price.
We really like it here, lots of amenities, decent rates, gated community, activities, etc.
However, I'm 39 and my DW is 38, and we have 13 and 12 year old girls. I'm a web developer, the kids are homeschooled, and the DW is a home maker, so we can easily leave the cold of MT to come down to warmer weather.
The only issue we're having is we're literally the only 4 people under about 60 here. That's not totally unexpected, and I'm not complaining about the age (no offense intended,) but it does sort of feel like we're on a foreign planet.
I'm not looking for a partying spring break crowd, but wondering if there are any parks you guys might know of that are a little broader in the ages of the residents/renters? It would be sort of nice to at least see someone our age once in a while. ;->
We're considering the Phoenix area next year, and possibly SoCal too.

We had the same problem ourselves when we first started going south in the winter.
We were in our mid forties and yes, everybody else seemed a whole lot older than we were.
It is a lifestyle that most middle age do not do as they are doing the brick and stick and working for themselves or the man.
Now twenties years later we are getting into the age that we meet a lot of people our own age.
KOA anywhere would have more people in your age group with kids but we found they can be on the expensive side if staying long term.

Face it.......at your age bracket FEW are able to do extended travel. You will be in the 'younger' sect regardless of where you go unless it's during spring break & destination. Most young families do weekend camping.
Check out the 'Family Camping' section, might have better luck than here on Snowbird section. Majority of snowbirds are retired.
Phoenix is more Snowbird country.........So. Cal is, well, uh, FULL of all types

Look for Jellystone or KOA parks. They usually have things for children. Some state parks also have swimming and playgrounds and younger people camping. Also you could try a campground near Disney World. Tropical Palms Resort and Campground has playground and pool and lots of kids when we were there. Of course it's more expensive but not as expensive as Disney World Ft Wilderness. Do a google for water parks with campgrounds in the area you are interested in. Silver River State Park in FL near Ocala is nice for families.

Hi! We are in our mid 30's and also full time. We have 3 children, 9 and 16 that are homeschooled.
We are going on our 3rd month here at a KOA in central Florida. I have been really, really surprised at the amount of younger RVers and children here these past 3 months.
I do think that KOAs in general do get more families and children.
The kids have had other kids to play with, up to 8 at a time for quite a while now. They are really enjoying having other kids their age to play with, which is as you stated in your OP pretty rare in RV parks and most campgrounds.
We don't spend too many full days in the camper, so usually having only another child or two in the campground to play with is okay, but it is a nice change

Great info folks, I appreciate it. The KOA thing never really occurred to me, so I'll definitely have to check some of that out. I also realize this is just the nature of the game. I'm sort of taking a dual approach to life, rather than waiting until I'm older to do some of the things you can when you retire. I'm doing those now.
Although not full time, we'll be spending 3-6 months a year in the camper/campground, so I'd still consider that snowbirding, although I do understand the difference.
If anyone has further info, I'd love to hear it!

FL state parks are full of kids on weekends...if you can get a reservation, quieter and older during the week.

This is our first year south and were in Davenport at Deer Creek RV @golf resort and i know what your taliking about,you can hear a gecko fart after eight PM,when we first got here my wife was calling this place an outdoor nursing home,lol but after a while we met some really cool older people here and were having a blast.

We cruised on a 32-foot sailboat while our kids were very young and had much the same problem. What we did was actively look for other families with kids. Don't just restrict yourselves to the kids in the same age group because, as we discovered, kids will play with just about any other kid and figure out how to make the games fun for all ages.
We used ham radio to coordinate where we would be on the various ham nets. Now you can use the Internet. Find family RV forums. Use Google a lot. If you see any RV at any location go over and strike up a conversation. Be willing to change your plans to keep your kids playing with friends. Let them invite kids from other RVs over for sleep-overs.
Takes more work but it's worth it.
