Think it was the Chevy Kodiak chassis that came with the Vortec 8.1 and the Allison 1000 trans.

Just a point of interest: The 8.1L engine was initially designed as a marine engine. If I remember correctly the reliability test required 24hrs at near full power.

Has the same bore as the 7.4 liter but the stroke was upped to reach 496cc. The power as installed in the class C is just little over 300hp. However, the power in one of the marine versions was reported to max out at near 600hp. I bet with a little work some little class c could surprise some people at the local drag strip?

Its fun to let those pones run, but then I have to get a loan to buy more gas.
