Same problem with our cedar creek and friends trailer did the same.
Narrowed problem to a vent (gray water) for washer drain hookup. There is a vent after the P trap and well hidden. Put a plastic bag and zip tie over the vent, problem solved.
Seems to be a common Forest River problem.

I installed the new vortex vent yesterday and I located both of the vents, one in bathroom and one under the kitchen sink. I am trying to figure out what these vents do and how they go bad. Jwakeman said in his post that he placed a plastic bag with a zip tie over it and his smell problem was over. Will placing a bad over a vent cause some other upstream problems? Would I be better off purchasing a new vent at the hardware store? I am presuming that the spring gets weak and lets the smell into the MH. Would love to rid our rig of the bad smells, but don't want to cause other issues. Thanks in advance for your advice.

The valve under the sink is a air admitance valve. It is a one way valve that will allow air into the drain system so that when you dump the grey tank it will not create a vacuum and draw the water out of the p-trap. They do fail and become a unwanted two way valve.
They can be easily replaced. They are a screw on device you can pick up at home depot or any plumbing store for less than $5.

Installed the Cyclone roof vent and the two under sink vents as recommended in these threads. The under sink vents cost $2.92 each at Home Depot, I will let you know if they make a difference!

Your black tank is going to smell, and no amount of cleaning is going to make it not smell. Same with the gray tank. So the problem is not the tank. As others said, it is a vent problem. Tell your friend to forget trying to clean the tanks, and inspect all the vents and traps.

My father in law had the same problem in his TT. If he sits on the throne, really bad smell, but it doesn't happen for his DW. So last year, I sit on his throne, and have the really bad smell. So what's the common denominator? Weight. He weighs about 230, and I'm about 210. Mother-in-law is maybe 125. I figure when the big boys sit down, the floor and or seal deforms, and opens a path to the black tank. Bad enough to make a billy goat puke. He changed out the floor seal, and that solved the problem, although I think the real problem is the floor flexing. Just a thought.
