Looking to buy a flat screen for the motorhome. From reading posts, it looks like LED is the way to go. I was told that I should get a TV with 180HZ and at least 920-1080. I'll be installing a 32 inch. Any recommendations on brands? do I really need 1080? I don't know anything about them.........and don't want to spend a fortune........around $500 or less would be nice. I also want to hook it up to external speakers......I have a surround sound system thru a dvd player I have........anything I need to know about the audio end of the installation? Thanks for the help.

I replaced my 26 tube tv in the front overhead with a 32 LED LCD because the TV is so much thinner that it fit great. I wanted it to look like a factory install and I did modify the front cabinet, but the TV sits on the front face of the cabinet. I got the Samsung because it had a nice "frame" style front that I liked and the touch buttons for controls are all on the front face. This ended up being a perfect fit TV for me and I have used it for a year and works perfect. Paid $398 for it at Walmart. Mine is not the 1080 but I personally didn't need anything more as it looks perfectly clear to me.

I think you mean 120 hz and either 720 or 1080. I haven't heard about 180 hz yet, a lot of them are still 60 hz.
We bought two Vizio's, 47" lcd for the house, and 26" lcd for 5vr/house. Both are 120 hz and 1080. Excellent picture quality. No issues to date - 47" is 3 yrs old, 26" is 2 yrs old.
LED would be a lighter, thinner TV - probably easier to mount also.

Do you use satellite svc or cable? Using HDMI cables would give you the best picture quality. I got extra HDMI cable at monoprice.com are much lower price then even W/M.

I have Sat service, direct TV, and I won't be using HD.

I think this would do what you want. If you want to spend more on 120hz and 1080 for a 32" TV, you can but I don't think you will be able to see a lot of difference. Now if you go up to a 40" plus, then you will want to reconsider. Here is the link to what I think would work for you. http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/285460

Unless you have hd receivers and dish it won't make matter at all unless you can get stations on your batwing antenna. Even then to the untrained eye (me) it is hard to tell the difference. I've had seen both and unless someone tells me I wouldn't know the difference.

I would recommend going to a store to see the difference between a 720p and 1080p TV for the size you are looking at (32 inches, right?).
I don't think one can tell the difference at that size TV, but maybe I'm wrong (or my eyes are wrong). Most TVs come with HDTV tuner cards so, at least you'll be able to get HDTV channels over the air. If you use DirecTV and it's not HD, the picture will actually be possibly worse on an 1080p TV vs a 720p because there is not resolution in the original signal (480i) to give you good details in 1080p. If you go to a store and they can hook up a non HD signal to a 32" 720p or 1080p TV, you'll be able to tell what you want.
My 2 cents.

Go to some place like Best Buy and pick the one that offers the best picture quality to your eyes. Sony is good, but you may not like their picture color saturation etc. Samsung also makes a great product. Have four of them.
