I have an 06 LBZ with org batteries. I keep them until they won't crank or get low and then use them for other things until they are dead, dead, dead.

The only way to determine a batteries true condition is to have them load tested.
A battery specialty shop will test them for you for free.

I replaced my original batteries in my Dmax after 7 years. I wasn't having any problems, but didn't want any either.

Sigh, I really should replace the ones in our 05 Ram diesel before they let me down at a bad time but don't want the expense right now. They are Mopars so likely original.

Same here...06 D/A with original batts.
I'm going to have them load tested before I head out again in the spring.

Usually the batteries will give you a bit of warning before dying completely. I would run them until they start acting up and then replace them. Most anywhere you travel will have them for sale at almost the same price range you have local. Normally they start showing weakness in the winter months but work a lot better during the warmer months. If you get past this winter and want to replace them, wait until fall unless they start to give up before then.

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill because they pissed me off.
