Hi - I'm new to the forum. This summer taking a 5 week trip with 23' class C. Deciding whether to buy a tow bar for a small car or two scooters. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I would recommend the car. It is not lawful to use a scooter in many places. Out here many municipalities have ordinances against using them on the streets. They are also illegal in many parks, national forests being one example. Unless of course you are referring to street-legal motorcycle-type scooters, which are permitted on the roads.

well now that all depends on the type of scooter. Honda scooters or the little electric ones. most states require you to have a license if it's over 50 cc's. When I feel cheap I ride my scooter, it's a Honda elite 80cc's and save myself a lot of money during the summer riding months. I'm too sissy to ride when it's real cold out. By the way, some parks do not allow golf carts or small scooters in the parks

I'm assuming that you already have a small car and a couple of scooters. If you run into situations at home when you wouldn't ride the scooters (like when its pouring rain) or you need to go shopping for something larger that what will fit in a pocket, you'll likely run into the same situations on the road.

Welcome to the forum.
I would forget the scooters and get a small car. The car can be used in all weather and would be more practical. But, that's just my opinion.

Thanks for all the good advice!! I think I'm going to go with the car, I have a small vw cabrio that will be perfect to tow.
Just need to buy a tow bar, if any one has suggestions on a good reasonable one please let me know. Someone suggested a tow dolly?

We travel south every winter for the last 7 years and tow a car also every fall we take a 4-6 week road trip without a tow. With a small RV you can go any place you want towing you are always worried you are going to have to unhook. I really look forward to my trips without the car.

Why tow anything. Seems to me that a Class C can get around any food store parking lot or anywhere else one has to go. Unlike my TT, which takes forever to hitch/unhitch, with a Class C it should only be a two minute exercise to get going.
If anything take along a couple of Dahon foldup bikes!

Depends on how much sight seeing you plan and how long you plan to stay in one place. A 23' even tho small enough to use for sightseeing, is still a pain to break down every day and re-setup every night.
You may also need an AUX brake system for the VW. Can your VW be towed on all 4's or is a dolly (with brakes) needed? Lots to think about.
It's not just a simple issue of tow or not tow.

Rent a car where you can't park a motorhome (touring Boston, etc.) Many RV parks have shuttle buses to take you into tourist areas or transfer point for a city bus. Many parks charge something extra if you use a street legal trail bike visible on a rack. A small non-steet legal electric scooter that you take out of your cargo bay may get by unless a park ranger etc. says nix. BTW, It takes 5 minutes or less to disconnect an RV from electrical, water and sewer and drive into town. With a 23-27 footer, parking within walking distance is usually not a problem.
A towed vehicle requires added expense of towing equipment and hookups, prevents backing up, and puts extra strain on the motorhome Some think that convenience of having a "toad" is worth it. Depends a lot on needs/desires/restlessness for driving around once you are camping. People who camp/tour in social groups often tow vehicles to trade off driving to restaurants and tourist attractions, etc.
Try going without a towed vehicle for a while before going for it.
