2011 Cougar 318SAB. It has just occurred to us that there is no phone jack to be found in this RV. Many of our neighbors here at the campground can't believe that a trailer this new came without a phone jack hook up. so, I triple checked the owners manual and searched the KeystoneRV forum to no avail. I could not find any reference to the location of a telephone jack in this rig. Any other Cougar owners out there have one WITH a phone jack? To us this should be standard equipment - or not?

Your comments, input and suggestions would be, as usual, welcome and appreciated.

BTW, just so you know, for the last three months we just ran a phone cord out through a window and to the pedestal. Never really thought about it until a few folks started asking why we did it this way instead of using the RV's built in phone jack.

Cheers!

Mike

Sign of the times.......landlines are becoming obsolete.
Cell phones/computers/all them other high tech devices that you can do everything with....landlines are soooooo old school

So I take it you have 'looked' thru out the trailer and no signs of an external hookup or one inside cabinets......entertainment centers living room/bedroom.

Yes,Sir, been through this thing top to bottom and no sign of anything resembling a phone jack. I just thought I was dumb-a$$ed or something and just didn't see it for looking right at it. We are hunkered down in Osoyoos, BC for the next three months and the land line is free local calls and only .06 cents a minute long distance whereas the cell phone bills for Carol and I are really quite stiff. I started looking for a phone jack so that we could stop the draft from the window that we run the phone cord out of. This is when I started getting all of these incredulous looks and comments from others that "couldn't believe" a trailer of this caliber didn't have a simple phone jack.

I agree that technology is replacing the standard land line. HOWEVER, there seems to still be a lot of CG's in North America that offer free land line hook ups.

I guess I'll start shopping tomorrow to see if I can rig up something that crudely resembles a phone jack.

Cheers!

Are you talking inside, outside or both???????

My outside one was under a small flip up cover next to the same style of cover for hooking up the cable television.

Unfamiliar with that model of fiver, perhaps there is something in the area where controls for city water hook up and drain valves, outside shower, etc. is located.

If you cannot find the phone jack...just install one.

Your problem is that you are in a minority - very few people actually USE their phone jack.
I'm one of them - never used the jack in over 20 years, even though I have one. In fact I don't actually KNOW anyone who has used it.
Would not bother me if a new trailer came without that feature.
Last poster got it right - if you really NEED one, simply install it. It is not a difficult job if you select accessible locations (inside and out) where you can run the wires.

My 2006 Crossroads Cruiser did have a phone jack. I never used it. My 2011 Denali did not have a phone jack, neither does my new 2012 Palomino Sabre. Sign of the times. How many pay phones do you see around these days.

Well Mike: easy convenient fix, Wally world and get a cheap wireless phone w/second handset and base. Run phone line to a compartment put the main unit, and the charger for it, in there and the second charging cradle and unit inside. The plus is you can locate the inside unit anywhere a convenient power plug is nearby!
OR the main one could go in a tupperware type container close to the power/hook-up post. Seal wire's (pwr "wall wart" and phone) exiting it w/silicone.
I have a connection on our new unit but this is what we did with last one

Do you have one one the outside of your unit ?

My parents coach had the outside hookup but no inner hookup could be found...turns out the wiring was left coiled up near the satalite and av controls.

Me dad used a cordless phone and just hung the base unit off the peddy and place a green Rubbermaid over it till the day the found the wire inside.
