Reading about Whitney Houston's death started me thinking about people who are famous and have so much, but end up dead from overdoses...Do they just get so bored that there is nothing left to try, so they try drugs?? I know it's a lifestyle that I will never be a part of and I can't say that I wouldn't fall into the same traps, but I just feel so sorry for them. They have so much and have nothing at the same time (which brings Elvis to mind)...and there are so many in(real)need who they could help...

Just thinking outloud...

I guess its true....Money can't buy happiness. I wonder what one would actually do if they hit the jackpot?
My gut reaction is to setup my kids and g-kids with a trust that will make life easy for them, but I wonder if thats really the right thing to do? Would it make their life better????? Do we appreciate what we have more since we had to work for it??? I think so.
But I guess I can still wish I get that opportunity to drive a Prevost at some time in my life

I think the struggle makes them stronger and they learn how to do things. You can always rent a Prevost or become a bus driver, same bus.

There are 100s of stars, athletes, celebrities, etc. who are not ruining their lives with drugs.

We only hear about the ones that do because the news media responds to the media's audience's bloodlust.

Funny I just watched Warren Buffet on Person to Person. He did say he set his kids up, didn't he. There seems to be some correlation to extremely talented artists and drugs. The bigger they are the harder they fall. They have the world in their hands one minute and nothing the next. Maybe the world was just too heavy for them.

I wonder if part of the problem is the world that entertainers live in. Tremendous pressure to succeed in a competitive industry, plus the pressure of being in the public eye all the time, and an environment where "everybody does dope". Not a justification, but possibly a reason. She had a history of drug abuse.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Pressure to perform, even when your just too tired, because of scheduling, add to all that the party atmosphere, etc.
Many things enter the picture like psychological history and tons more.

Like the over weight comedian who over dosed and come to find out that his off the wall style of comedy was tracked back to his childhood of always being overweight, so comedy and acting up helped him to cope.

We need to walk in "They're" shoes to truly understand what drives them, and here again, DRIVE can be a killer.

As for the Prevost, driving one is delightful. Spent many years driving them, both standard and custom. Also the 'Articulated Prevost" that is an absolute blast, specially when backing up.

They are weak people PERIOD !!! Only the strong can handle the pressure and life of being great. AKA Billy Graham, and so many others who are strong and can and do handle the problems of being great.

Or would you like to discuss Lindsay Lohan and a long list of losers.

rockportrocket, I am not so sure we can paint all addicts or drug/alcohol abusers with the same broad brush of "weak people PERIOD." If it were so simple the cure would be equally simple and I think we have seen that is just not the case. Rush Limbaugh has to be listed among the once addicted ... is he also listed as "weak?"

Both retired. Travel with Nicky the Schnoodle. Son graduated and is teaching high school math. We still love our 2006 34' Allegro Bay XB and have 40,000+ miles on her.
