OK folks, another question. As I have stated before, I purchased a 1966 Skamper TT last December. I have absolutely no information on the TT. How do I find the GVWR and the GAWR. This information would be nice (necessary) to know or there is no point in weighing the rig. I would never know if I'm overweight or not.
Thanks for the help.

Look for any info/data sheets inside cabinets
Look for data sticker on outside of trailer
Take VIN to RV Dealer and see if they can get info
Call Thor Industries, INC. at (937) 596-6849 (Thor acquired what was left of AMF Skamper Corp. in 1995)
On Edit: Skamper Corporation Bristol, IN 46507 (Original MFG. name/location)
Good luck.......
And this post is useless without pictures of that vintage trailer

Thanks. I have done all of that. There is no data plate, no info in a cabinet, and I called Thor industries. All no help. There are pictures. Look on the TT forum, I posted them back in Dec.

You may have to determine the weight capacity of the axles. Here is some info I found online. Hope it helps.

If you can find an axle-capacity tag on the axle or can estimate the axle capacity by other means,
the trailer's GVWR will be approximately 1.15 times the axle capacity due to the fact that some of the trailer's weight is carried on the hitch ball.

Thanks, I just fired off an email to E-Trailers.com. Hopefully I'll get a response.

This link might help.
You may also find some type of data plate or stamped info (look around rear center) on the axle(s) themselves. Example: If they are 3500 lb axles, and there are two of them, your GVWR would be somewhere in 7000 lb ball park.
Unload the trailer (including propane and battery) and weigh it. This weight, subtracted from axle weight rating, will give you ball park numbers for UVW, cargo capacity, and GVWR.
If the existing tires are correct, they may also give you some clue. Note the tire size and class (C, D, E, etc), then look up that particular tire size to see what the weight rating is. Example: Class C is rated at 1800 LBS, 4 tires at 1800 lbs could put GVWR around 7200 lbs. Here again, it is only a ball park figure.

I don't think you'll find anything definitive. They just didn't normally provide that kind of info back then.
Probably your best bet would be to find an ID tag on the axles.

If the data plate from the left front corner of the trailer is missing. Contact the manufacturer. They should be able to supply a replacement for you.
