RE: Please wash your hands

If you are handling raw sewage while dumping your tanks you're doing it wrong! :E

RE: Please wash your hands

Another curiosity, how do you open the restroom door after washing your hands, or any door for that matter... One of the new "procedures" is to carry the paper towel you dried your hands with and us it when opening the door. Many places have started putting small garbage cans next to the door so the paper towels don't end up on the floor. Insanity run a muck. We have more and more germaphobes (sp?). The problem is that these people are possibly making themselves MORE susceptible to getting sick, not less.

RE: Please wash your hands

For some folks this "They must wear gloves!" is an obsession that I simply do not understand. I often wonder if they ever changed a diaper on their child or grandchild bare handed or did they break out the surgical gloves? OMG NO! That requires a hazmat suit! :E

RE: Can this be done? Charging battery question.

BTW, that is what my MH does when I drive it (and most others work about the same). When I start the MH a "relay" engages and connects the house battery to the chassis battery. Both are charged this way. Not terribly efficient unless you are driving. But it certainly works well when you are driving anyway. EDIT: Sorry, read it wrong. I wouldn't connect them together unless the engine is running, as others have said.

RE: Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Darned capitalism. That's sure not a problem in socialist countries. They just charge $8 whether you're desperate or not. The more government holds your hand, the tighter its grip. Yup, should probably get rid of the anti-trust laws too. Patent and copyright stuff too, all just government interference in a free market economy. A pure free market would work except for one problem, greed.

RE: Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

That kind of price hike based solely on someones desperate need should be included in the definition of gouging, and therefore illegal. No new law, just update the definition of gouging.

RE: Should be get new tires

I would not get new ones. 13k miles isn't that much, and they should be good for more than a few years.

RE: Pulling a boat, launching a boat, hmmm.......

I found it easy enough with a rear camera. I was using a 27' Class C and a 16' ski boat.

RE: RV GPS?

BTW, the types of GPS units being discussed here are maps, just a map on a screen instead of paper. And you don't have to follow the route it suggests. I use one on a trip where there is no way I'm going any of the ways it routes you. I have it on for the estimated arrival time and should I need to make a detour.

RE: Corporate Greed or ???

It is very easy to write an RFP for something like a computer system that include requirements that only the system you want can meet. I have seen lots of them. So, no, the bid does not go to the lowest bidder.

RE: Corporate Greed or ???

Can you get me the government contract? ;) Go start taking to each state government, one at a time, that's what RA had to do. Then show them the facts and figures, fancy charts and spread sheets. Convince them you can do it better, cheaper, and the customers will be more satisfied. Then show them the programming your going to use, how it works, how fast it is, etc. Then show them how much staff you'll have for quick response time, how fast you'll be able to fix issues that come up, and how you'll continue to train them on the latest software and hardware. Then after you spend a few hundred thousand dollars to get the contract, then try and see how long it's going to take you to make a dime. "Can you get me the government contract" I don't think any just gave RA a government contract like you want for you. Walk the talk. Like I said, I'll even gladly pay you double what you wanted - $2 per transaction. I'd gladly do all that, but that is not how government contracts are awarded. And yes, I do know what they are awarded. In the office I work in that is what we do, develop, maintain and support a software package for a specific type of government office. I've read and helped write many government RFPs. It doesn't take hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the contract. It takes the person making the decision to want to give it to you. It is quite possible that RA was "given" the contract. It's more likely they convince some government official that their contract would give the government back more money that any of the others. And, the only point I was making is that I could do it cheaper (without giving the government any payments) IF I had the contract. It is not all that complex. And I do have the necessary knowledge and infrastructure to do it.

RE: Crockpot Use In Towed Not Being Towed?

I have done it with a small inverter plugged into the 12 volt outlet (cigarette lighter outlet) before. Worked fine on low.

Can you get me the government contract? ;)Have you got a great big building with lots of computer work stations and all the phone lines coming in? Yup. "We" provide outsourced call centers for many, many companies.

RE: 6v versus 12v

You want the biggest battery cells you can get. Each lead acid cell is about 2 volts. 6 volt batterys have 3 cells, 12 volt batterys have 6. If you can you only want 6 cells in series. That gives the best performance. Now, getting cells big enough may not be easy, practial or cost effective. As has been stated before, the T105s are generally the most cost effective.

RE: Corporate Greed or ???

I am a software developer for a major company and certainly understand what is involved on large projects. And, as of the last time I was at the CG I have been using as an example I knew how the place was ran. Additionally, I am very knowledgeable when it comes to these types of systems. "Everyone" wants to get a contract where they get a few dollars per transaction. "We" spent millions to build much more complicated systems with a $1 or $2 transaction fee. Only for those transactions we processed. A 200 site CG at 50% utilization with an average stay of 4 days is $4500 per month (30 days). This is assuming a single fee per reservation. Multiply that by the number of CGs and... I believe that they just got a sweet contract from the govt (I have also seen plenty of these) that gives them the fees on all reservations, regardless of where they were made. Sweet deal for them.

RE: Corporate Greed or ???

And, the systems to do the reservations are not that complicated. I could write one myself in a week for a single CG. Including other CGs would only involve whatever special rules they had.
