RE: Norcold Refrigerator

I have a Norcold Model 1210IM that is 13 months old. Last week the bottom refrigerator section stopped cooling on LP or AC. The freezer still remained well below freezing and making ice. I called Norcold and they had me unplug the thermistor to by pass it. It did not help, and Norcold then advised me that I had a bad cooling unit that would require replacement. Yesterday, the technician at Tiffin in Red Bay unplugged the 12 Volt source wire to the Control Board and left it unplugged about two minutes. He then reconnected the wire and the refer section began cooling. His explanation was that on a very rare random occasion, the control board will lock up and unplugging the 12 Volt source will reset it. Still currently cooling. Bear Ellijay, GA

Norcold Quit Cooling

We have a Norcold 1200 four door frig that is 13 months old. Last night the refrigerator section quit cooling. It does not cool on LP or AC. The freezer section is still freezing and at 22 degrees, but the lower refer section is room temp. We are currently location at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Labor Day race. Anyone have any suggestions for what is wrong with the refrigerator and how to correct it? The nearest service center does not make house calls. Thanks! Bear

NM152 from Truth or Consequences to Silver City

I noticed on a day trip today that Hwy152 between Hillsboro and Kingston has two bridges marked at 12' 8" in height. The rafters across the top of the bridge are not parallel with the road, but tapered up with the center of the bridge being much higher than at the outside edge. Does anyone know how they determine the bridge height. Is the 12'8" the minimum height at the outside edge? Our motorhome is 12'7" inches and high we and are planning on going from Truth or Consequences to Silver City next week. Any help appreciated. Bear

RE: Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Availability out West

There's really no difference in low and ultra low sulfur diesel. Flash points are the same. The only difference is low sulpher is 1.5 ppm to 2.0 ppm and ultra low is 0.5 ppm to 1.00 ppm. Essentially there is no performance difference, just the increased cost of refining and minimal effects on the environment. To medrecruiterusa: Not to be rude, but I really don't know the purpose of your reply. I know the difference between LSD and ULSD, and it is 15 ppm versus 500 ppm, not as you state above. I own a 2009 Cummins ISL engine that is required to use ULSD to prevent damage to the DPM and also to comply with the law. I had thought that all fuel providers were supposed to have switched over to ULSD on 1 October 2006. And, I were surprised to find ULSD offered at only two lanes of a QT Truck Plaza yesterday here in Georgia. After doing some research, I found that LSD can be sold until 1 December 2010, as long as they also offer ULSD at the same fuel station. More research last night and today reveals that many of the truck plazas do in fact sell LSD at many of their pumps. The following quote pretty much sums it up. "Kamper00, I have been to several fuel stations recently that offer LSD (low sulfur diesel) and ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel).... You still have to be careful and make sure you are getting the fuel that you want. Our coach is USLD only.... I was surprised that I had to verify the correct pumps at several stations and move a couple of times to the ULSD pumps. What I have seen is that a station might have 14 pumps and only 2 are ULSD. Hopefully soon, all pumps will be ULSD. It seems out West you will find all ULSD but in the mid-west, you have to make sure! MM." So, for the new diesel owners, if you didn't already know it --BEWARE. You need to verify the pump you pull up to does in fact pump ULSD versus LSD. Bear

RE: Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Availability out West

Thanks for your replies. Here in Georgia, I filled up at QT Truck Plaza today and they had a banner across two pump lanes out of about 12 lanes identifying those two as ULSD. Think I will be more observant in the future and if I have to, I will ask the attendant before fueling. Thanks again. Bear

Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Availability out West

We are planning at trip out West (Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah) this spring. Are there still truck plazas/fuel stops selling regular Low Sulfur Diesel there? Or have they all switched over to ULSD at all pumps? It was my understanding that everyone was supposed to have completed the transition for on road diesel by 1 October 2006. But, now understand they have until 1 December 2010. Any information regarding availability would be appreciated. Thanks. Bear
