Gatering of Eagles

We were heading back from Victorville, Ca. after attending a wedding and while we were passing through Palm Springs area, I noticed about 10 to 15 American Eagle's heading west bound. They were not in a caravan but somewhere between a mile or two apart...Anyone know if there was a "Gathering of Eagles" over the weekend?...It caught my eye as it is not something you normally see on the road...just curious...

RE: 2000 Country Coach questions

I have the Allure, 36' single slide, one step down from yours but built on the same chassis other than mine is a solid front axel and not the IFS...I bought it with 51,000 and have 134,664 miles on it...same engine and trans and virtually no issues...do my own maintenance on it and it still rolls down the highway squeek free... if you like what you see and the price is right, go for it...IMO it is a well built coach....Hope this helps...

RE: Bridgestone R250 tires

I'm going to go back to the tire dealer today and see if they will exchange the tires for 6 Yokahoma's. Also going to write to Bridgestone and let them know the problems I am having with their product. It no fun driving the MH when you are fighting the wheel all day. Thank you for the replies and the suggestions. rich Not sure what happened but I will try it again...I have R-260's on my coach, 295/75R/22.5's load range "G"...This is the second set and when I put these on I had the same issue as you did. Found out that the R-260's had more tread then the R-250's and that is why they squish going down the road...I put about 5000 miles on them and the squish went away...have about 25,000 on them now and no issues at all...I am a big fan of Bridgstone tires and will continue to use them...BTW I run down the road at about 28,400 with a gross of 32,400...hope this helps...

RE: Worth it to spend $450 to DP inspect?

Not sure what you are paying for the LE but I saw one on RV-Online for $178,000....The $450 you spend on a good qualified inspection is peanuts against what you are spending on the MoHo and you said you are not that DP savy...Now with the report you have information to dicker with the owner, not just your opinions....I would do it in a heart beat...good luck

RE: Norcold fridge cooling unit replacement

Our Dometic went south on us last year...I have a 10 yr old coach and found a cooling unit in Elkhart...we drove east from Idaho, failed while we were on our trip, and I helped the tech do the job as he was a one man show...We pulled the fridge out onto a motorcycle jack and then lowered it to the floor...This works real cool as the refer is quite heavy and hard to handle...It is a complete disassembly of the refer...As others have said it is charged from the factory so all you do is R&R the cooling unit...Total time spent was about 6 hours, start to finish...cost $2,000....Other option was a new refer @ $5,500 plus installation...could I have done it myself?...yes but it would have taken much longer and all I would have saved was about $600 bucks...Hope this helps and good luck...

RE: Dometic RV fridge won’t hold more than 40 over ambient

At 85 degrees outside the unit should have no problem maintaining 38 to 42 inside. Are you running on gas or electric. If gas check the flame to be sure it is giving you a full flame...If on electric check to be sure both elements are working...I found one of the electric elements on mine was disconnected and that was the reason for the higher temps...If both of the above are OK then have a qualified tech check it out...also I would look to e sure there is not an obstruction with the air flow on the condenser side...hope this helped and good luck...

RE: A/C question

The basement air WILL NOT DROP THE AIR BY 40 DEGREES...All standard air conditioners both basement (package unit) and roof tops will only drop the return air by 18 to 20 degrees. What does play into it is how well your coach is insulated and does it have dual pane windows and how hot the outside air is. The hotter it is outside the harder it is for the unit to reject the interior heat. Do like the other poster said...Park them next to each other, fire up the generators, turn on the A/C's to full cool and walk between them and measure the interior temps....then make your decision...hope this helps...

RE: How is the road east out of Yellowstone

As said it is a beautiful drive out the East side to Cody...Just keep your eyes open for the Big Horn Sheep...I smacked one on the way into Cody just below the dam...no damage to the MoHo but the sheep had a sore a** the next morning...Buffalo grade is steep...You can make it and the down grade is not all that bad if you have a Jake Brake....

RE: Fridge on the fritz?

If you access to a clamp-on amp meter then check both of the electric heating elements. If one is bad you will have reduced cooling. If both are good and you don't see any yellow powder or smell ammonia it should cool down in time. Also it will cool faster on gas over electric.

RE: looking at a country coach tomorrow

If there was anything that was a concern was there were a couple of bumps in the paint that could indicate a little corosion under the paint. There has been discussion on issues with the fiberglass and paint. Problem is small checking all over the fiberglass. Not sure what the correction is but you will find the answers on the Yahoo Country Coach Owners forum. As for CC quality I can only speak for mine. It's a '99, 36' Allure single slide with over 125,000 and still quiet as we roll down the highway...Currently in Reno starting another back east trip where I will most likely put on another 5,000 to 6,000 miles...If the newer ones are built like the older ones I don't think you can go wrong on a CC....good luck in your search...

RE: coach batteries for country coach

Do you have 8 D's in there now..?...and if so do you want to keep the 8 D's or go to series / parallel 6 volt batts...?...I have had my coach for 6 years and have stayed with the 8 D's but will make the move to the 6 volt when these fail...I have used Interstate and keep the maintenance up on them and do not have any problems...for the money compared with the others, the Interstate works OK for me...HTH

RE: Letter from Country Coach

I agree, all the paperwork, warranty, badging is related to a "brand new from the factory" mh. So what's the problem? It's time to give CC a break so they can move forward with business. Amen brother and maybe Beaver might buy back the line from Monaco and start building a few units like they used to and HR as well. It would be good to see the industry get back to what they used to build and with better QC....one can only hope...

RE: Letter from Country Coach

I find it rather disturbing that the 2009 units, "work in progress" when the shut-down occured, will be rebranded 2010 units. I would like to know what was upgraded for 2010?So what does that matter? The manufacturer of the completed unit determines the model year of the unit. If they decide to carry units over and call them 2010 models then that's what they are. Ditto Deen....

RE: U-joint Zerk Question

If you cannot get the u-joint to take grease the best choice may be to pull the drive shaft now and find a drive shaft shop to repair or replace the u-joint. A lot easier to pull the drive shaft in the driveway then to have it seize or break on the side of some highway. Why pull and replace the drive shaft when it is just the zerk that will not accept the grease???...Just pull the zerk and replace it...then if it will not accept the grease then pull the shaft...geeeeze....
