RE: Black Max Honda Generator Died

Correct me if I'm wrong. You have a generator with a Honda engine on it. Not a Honda Generator.
If so. IMHO cut your losses and go for the Honda 6500is.
I've had one for about 2 years now. Fantastic machine!
I think it's the second quietest generator built by Honda.
Last year after severe storms at the campground we ran mine in gas saver mode with 2 5th wheels hooked up (no AC) and it didn't even come off idle.

RE: Lower screen door cover

Any saw with a fine blade will cut that very well, just be sure to file and radius ALL edges touching the screen.

RE: Disconnect battery before arc welding on frame?

As a welder, I would make a point to unhook any batterys. Both sides just to be safe. Far easier and cheaper than replacing things. Murphys law seems to always kick in on these things.
Ditto on unhooking BOTH cables! Sometimes not everything shuts off with the batt disconnect. CO/Propane detector comes to mind.

RE: HONDA GENERATORS

I'd say stick with the 2000's.
I have 3 Honda's 3500,5000,and 6500is.
Wouldn't want to wrestle any one of the three in and out of a pickup on a regular basis.
If generator power is needed I bring it along in this behind the 5er.

RE: generator

All you guys reccomending the Honda Generators. The OP wants one with a 50 amp plug. Even my Honda 6500is does not have a 50 amp plug.

RE: Slip Plate,Pullrite Superglide

I'm tired of messing with the slip plate. Per instructions, it says to take apart once a year, and sand down way tubes and cam, and restart applying new slip plate to parts then reinstall. Just finding as I age it just is no that easy anymore.
Look at the brite side. Once a year you get the opportunity to tear apart the most important part of your truck trailer combination and inspect.
Peace of mind "PRICELESS"

RE: Slip Plate,Pullrite Superglide

If you've been coating before every outing you should have enough build up to get by for your trip.
Run your fingers up and down the wear surfaces. You should be able to feel if the coating is still there.

PS
I've read Tractor Supply sell a product similar to SlipPlate.
You might check there.

RE: spare tire storage

Ours came mounted on the rear bumper but now resides under the bed for the last year or so.
Mine was under front of 5er between landing gear legs. After seeing what happened when the cable system failed and spare let go under 5er at highway speed mine came out from under ASAP!
Besides that, dealing with a dirty spare when needed or losing it to theft also factored into the move.
It now resides in the front compartment, clean dry and locked up.
