RE: Made it to Honeyman SP, Florence,OR. "PICTURES ADDED" Page 1

I see them now! Sure takes me back...
One question:
Has this cat been "stretched", or is that body "stock"? :B
https://xb6dcw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pbOYwBnfbQdPkuaHQAFiKEv5-R1Hqn4FnH_QK-7g__n9d54mhpxESrpXNBkTFHdCJuC_Q_LxZMJRMlGAKQu6_rN01MSnJs9zR/WP_000138.jpg?psid=1 width=300
Charlie must be a relative of Long Cat ;).
That is the factory body. Charlie weighs 20+ pounds so he's a big guy.

RE: any advice on the coupeville area

I like Deception Pass SP on the North tip of the island. Fort Ebey is nice and has lots of hiking trails along the bluffs and the old fort complex. Farther South at the Ferry terminal to go to Port Townsend is another bigger fort complex and light house with a campground. From there, you could walk to the ferry and take a day trip to Port Townsend. When you are coming South from home, turn off at Bellingham and take the scenic Chaukanaut Drive South till you get to HWY 20, then get on that West to go to Whidby Island. Check Spelling on that drive and be sure to stop at the look put points. Oak Harbor would ber the place to get food and fuell if needed. If you want to see something else, head East on HWY 20 about 25 miles and stay at Rasar SP. It has trails and the Skagit river with Eagles to watch fish.

RE: Made it to Honeyman SP, Florence,OR. "PICTURES ADDED" Page 1

I have a special request:
Forty-plus years ago, while camped at Honeyman, my kid brother buried a matchbox car SOMEWHERE in the campsite.
We searched and searched for it, but never turned it up- he maintains to this day that "the rabbits took it". (It's my belief he was/is "covering up", given that his older brother was the actual rightful owner)
In any case:
If you happen to excavate a matchbox car, or see a rabbit in possession of same, please do let me know and I'll send out a retrieval party....
Thanks!
Tell you what Francesca, we may be back here in September for a film event in the CG. If you can tell me the campsite #, I'LL bring a metal detector and give the known area a search.

RE: Made it to Honeyman SP, Florence,OR. "PICTURES ADDED" Page 1

Thanks for the suggestions people. The problem was fuse #24, a 10 amp circuit that controls the factory trailer charge circuit, the new heavy charge circuit, the ABS circuit, and turn signal. Have not driven yet so don't know if Speedo is working.
Weather is nice. The new TC AGM batteries have a ton of power and are still at 12.6-7 volts after deliberate heavy use.
Will keep posted.
PS. The smart phones are spoiling us ;)
Good so far....Hope all is ok..
Jeff, the Agm batteries will show in the neighborhood of +.15 to +.2 vdc more than flooded wet cells for a given state of charge...Be aware of that!
The agm voltage on the solar controller at night is always at 12.8volts. It drops as the load increases. We had it down to 12.5 with the lights, furnace, pump, and three charging devices running. This morning, the voltage was about 12.6. My old batteries would have been 12.1-2 volts. There is no need for us to use the shore power.

Made it here but Speedometer quit, ABS & check engine lights are on, & the overdrive switch light is blinking.

After more intestigation, I find the fuse blows when I switch the truck ventilation control to the dash and feet output setting. Soon as I click it to that position (one click clockwise from the 12 oclock off position) the 10A fuse blows, so does a 15A fuse. Will have to dig into the dash wiring this weekend. There has been wiring alterations done to this truck before I bought it so there may be something incorrectly altered in there.
Here are pictures from the weekend.
We got to Honeyman SP on the late side. Charlie was in his usual command position behind me.

I hiked about a mile on the dunes. Much more difficult than expected and you need to be aware of off road activity. It's a lot easier to go down than it is up looking at my going and returning tracks.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Thanks for the suggestions. I am looking at saturating the area with epoxy but after I resolve the leak. Here is a picture of the area. The wet point is on the bottom edge just inside of the compartment door. It only gets wet in the center. It is always dry to either side of the spot. How's that for a brain teaser! There is a drip cap ofer the top of the door and the door never gets wet. The bolts holding the rear jacks in place have all been embedded in caulk. Everything is caulked. Here's a picture of the area. The picture is older and everything has been caulked since this was taken.
https://public.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pwwKsh7je1zb2R0TteFxteB9jhiQn-BqEuTbEAkimShxKMY8AfYp79gsqGqomffqOi8Y3rO788VEY3hiV4dqQKA/moto_0329.jpg?psid=1 width=640
I put a second bead of caulk over the left rear tail light so we'll see if that does it.
Got the camper loaded and heading to Florence, OR in the AM for the Rhodadenderon festival in florence. They put on a pretty decent parade and the car show at the Three Rivers Casino is good too. Looking forward to a little fun and sun.

RE: Returning to Canyon De Chelly

That is really cool to be able to A/B the pictures from your two trips, so many years apart. Enjoyed that.
Thanks for posting.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Still trying to figure where a persistant leak is penetrating from on the left rear corner of the TC. Removed the Left rear tail light assembly and removed the putty it was set in and am setting it in QUAD caulk. Also did more caulking in the near areas that could possibly be an entry point. I do have a little wood rot begining so I saturated the area with Wolman end cut preservative for treated lumber decking hoping that will if nothing else, slow down any advance of rot. The affected area is small and for the life of me, cannot figure where the water is getting in there from.

RE: France, short trip to test our camper (lots of pics)

Very nice Weymard. Love your countryside.
Sorry to hear the TC batteries aren't charging. I don't know about your year of Ford truck, but my 2000 Ford truck did not have the relay for the 7 pin plug charge wire installed. For me, it was simply a matter of getting the cube relay and plugging it into it's socket, problem solved. What happened next is I discovered the gauge of the Ford factory wire and the length of that wire going to your TC batteries, is long enough that you develop significant voltage drop due to the resistance in the length of the charge wire and in my case, the voltage measured at the TC batteries was never above 12.6 volts and consequently to low to effectively charge the TC batteries. That is why I and many others have installed 4 gauge cable directly from the alternator to the TC batteries. In my situation, I now get between 13.2 and 14.6 volts delivered to the batteries. Plenty of information on this subject in the TC University section.
Thanks again for the nice pictures and story.
