RE: Planning vacation near Dollywood TN - Aug 20th

We just returned from Riveredge RV park. There was some slight road noise at our site (which backed up to the creek) but it was nothing that kept us awake. The pool and hot tub were both immaculate. The game room and laundry areas were very nice and had cameras located in both so as to monitor your older kids. The trolly came right through the CG often throughout the day. The sites are close to one another but I think most of them in the area are that way. We were centrally located between Dollywood and Gatlinburg. I do not know if the CG offers any activities in season (we were there off season). We intend on going back this fall. Enjoy your trip!

RE: I truly believe rescue dogs are thankful

We've had Molly, our rescue dog, six months today. We took her on her first camping trip last week, from NJ to Tennessee. She did absolutely great. No problems whatsoever. We now call our pick-up the "Molly mobile" because she just loves to jump in and go for rides. She makes us laugh and smile every day and we are so happy to have her in our lives. She always comes up to us and lies her head on our laps. She looks up at us with so much love in her eyes. We have been blessed with having found her and hope to go on many more trips with her.

RE: U-Shaped dinette...a necessity?

Our Rockwood 2607 has the U-shape dinette and we love it. It was one of the reasons we went with this layout (the other being the huge bathroom). The downside is that when Forest River changed from the standard 4-person table to the U-shaped one it meant the loss of a nice size food cabinet.

RE: Any dog parks in Pigeon Forge?

Not to my knowledge. Why would you ever allow your dog to run free? He will get all the exercise he needs on a long leash in Patriot Park Pigeon Forge. I don't believe it is ever acceptable to let a dog run leash free unless it is in an enclosed lot.
I believe you misread my question. I am looking for a DOG park. As Paws4us said, these are specifically fenced-in areas where dogs are welcome to romp and play. We, otherwise, have her on a leash. I did Google Pigeon Forge dog parks but I did not see any listed (but there are times Google is wrong :E LOL).

RE: E- Zee pass

In Jersey and Delaware I know you just drive through the lane, but just a warning.. Some of the Delaware bridges have "software" problems and will consider a pickup pulling a TT as a commercial vehicle (charging you $30 instead of the correct price of $12). This has happened to us 3 times :M, and each time I needed to call Easypass and request a refund. It always takes about 5 weeks. (This has happened to us 3 times over a 3 year span. I can't believe the problem was never corrected!).

Any dog parks in Pigeon Forge?

Can someone tell me if there are any off-leash dog parks in or around the Pigeon Forge area? We will be staying at the Riveredge CG and I believe they have a dog walk area though not a leash-free area. We would like to make sure our dog is able to have some runaround time. Thanks!

RE: Locks on outside shower

On our first trip out with our TT my DH looked in the rear-view mirror and noticed something dragging along..yes it was our outside shower-head bouncing down the highway. It was quite a sight..looked almost alive! Not sure how far it bounced along before he noted it but we pulled over and to our amazement there was some road dirt on it but otherwise it was in good shape! The lock, on the other hand decided it didn't want to lock anymore, so we needed to replace it. We now make sure the lock is working before we take off. :)

RE: State Parks "Space Spoiled Me"!

We do like to intermittently try out private CGs when we have our grandkids, but there are times we love to visit state parks for some quiet getaways, though one of the problems with Jersey (besides high taxes, car insurance and those Jersey Shore show idiots LOL) is that our state parks have no hookups at all and most have sites that are on the smaller size, making it somewhat difficult for larger TTs. Nevertheless, the state parks we do visit are quiet and very peaceful..each one having its own ambiance so we make sure to get away a few times per year to some of the ones in the South Jersey area. We do feel lucky to be withing a 15-20 minute drive to either the state park or the beach..decisions, decisions!

RE: need a math person on disney

As super_camper said, it really depends on the type of visits you do.
We go to Florida at least once per year but usually only go one day at Disney each trip so for us the 'no expiry' is totally worth it (e.g. we will use our 10 days on 10 different trips). He will use 5 days per trip and would use 10 day 'no expiry' over 2 trips so it's worse than simply getting 5 day passes every time.
I agree with Michelb..it definitely depends on how many "trips" you will dividing the days over. We bought the 10-day trip and use it 2 days each time we go down. We then add a day or two to Seaworld or Universal, Kennedy Space Center, etc. One thing that most people don't realize is that if you add the "water-park/Disneyquest" feature (which I believe ran us apr $54 extra each ticket when we purchased them), you will get 10 waterpark trips in addition to the 10 large-park days. These water park visits do NOT expire even after you use all 10 of your large-park visits. You still get to use up all 10 days of the waterpark days. To me this just gives it extra value!

RE: Crockpot receipes

Bake Potato wrapped in foil. Place on bottom of crock pot. Season chicken leg and thigh pieces that are hooked together and lay on top of wrapped potatoes. Do Not Add Any Liquid!!! Cook about 6 hours on high. Potatoes taste like restaurant style and chicken taste like rotisserie. Delicious. I use BBQ rub on my chicken. So easy for camping.
Just want to say thanks to Grammie for this recipe. I bought McCormick's rotisserie chicken spice, rubbed it generously into the chicken pieces (skin on) and followed the above directions. The chicken was melt in your mouth tender and the flavor was just right..not too bold, not too dull. We had large and medium size russet potatoes and I found that the medium size ones were cooked thoroughly enough but the larger size ones were still a bit too hard for our family (though I know some people prefer this). I highly recommend this recipe for anyone needing a new meal. :)

RE: Camping

So happy to hear that your son is home and on the way to recovery. I would never have thought about the option to "camp" at the hospital and hope to never need it but want to thank you for sharing your story and giving others a possible option to think about if such an emergency should occur. Prayers go out to your family.

RE: Pork Ribs in a crock pot

I've never tried ribs in the crock pot. Some of these ideas look great, but is it okay to slightly layer them if you have a larger amount or will this affect the outcome?

RE: How close to home camping?

One of our favorite CGs is only 2 miles from our home. We love to take quick 2-day getaways in the spring and fall, being very affordable at only $25 per night. These short trips make waiting for the longer ones bearable! We love getting away...no matter how far (or close)!

RE: 1st trip of the season in.....

So jealous! We were supposed to be at Disney this week but cancelled it and decided to divide the vacation time into 2 other trips..one to Dollywood in TN and one to Charleston SC. We hope to get a local trip in within the next few weeks. Hope your trip is a blast!
