RE: tube out of the back of the refrigerator

thanks for all the responses. I checked and it isn't a plug as suggested. I did run it outside of the grill so condensation won't remain inside the enclosure, THXIf you look closely at that plug there are probably 2 little holes on either side. They have a habit of plugging up and you get water in your fridge. Mine drains out the grill, but some have little tub by the exhaust that the water drains into and evaporates.

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

Sorry, Did not catch the "No Shocks" in the last line of orginal post.
Things are adding up now as trailer will bounce and continue to bounce with nothing to dampen. Nothing to control compression and then related de compression of spring. Another thought is spring strength and related travel or lack of travel during compression. More brainstorming ......Randu
From some of the comments, I'm beginning to wonder about the value of shock absorbers on these trailers. Big believer in shocks, it's just that some trailer mfg lay them off so much. As pointed out here, they seem to be of limited value.
The Grand Junction is a long, heavy trailer. I guess the question is, will Center Point help prevent tossing the rear of the trailer in to the air. Actually I suspect it is more the rolling action from side to side that does the dirty deed.

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

One has to keep a sense of humor posting on this forum. I don't think my buddy needs any driving instructions. He probably has more miles under him than everyone on this thread put together. Claims he "Doesn't Gouge on it anymore". :-)
The trailer does not "Chuck". It has 3,500 on the pin.
Neither he nor I are novices. The dealer has made some pretty big claims. We are looking to those with experience like kakamper, larry, etc. for their observations.
Shocks are going to be interesting. My springs have flattened out so much so that they broke all of my brand new shocks on the way home this spring. I'm changing out the springs but I wont have the shocks in time for our next outing. We will be finding out what kind of difference they make.

Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

My buddy has a 38' Grand Junction, rear kitchen 5th wheel. It has a bad habit of dumping the refrigerator and cupboards while in transit. The trailer is equipped with MorRyde equalizers and a MorRyde pin box. What it does not have, is shock absorbers.
He has been told that the Center Point Airbag Suspension will eliminate this problem. I'm somewhat skeptical. Does anyone have experience with changing to Center Point and what was the result?

RE: EZ Lube Bearings

Each to his own. Some here swear by them and others swear at them. I pull my hubs to inspect the brakes, etc so it's not a big deal to grease by hand and replace seals. I've seen the results of the seal failing to keep the grease off the brakes and do not trust them myself.

RE: NICE RV Park/Campground Near Downtown San Antonio

We've stayed at Admiralty RV Resort. It is by Sea World. Not within walking distance, however, you can take public transportation to downtown. Convenient and inexpensive.

RE: Dexter EZ Flex question

The E-Z Flex in those pictures are pretty nasty. Dexter should have a recall out on those. Mine, I think, are still in good shape. I'll take a good look when I change out the springs later this month.

RE: Texas Gulf Coast

Because of that, I have also started checking rv parks with weekly rates. I don't want to stay too long in one place but if need be I would to take advantage of the weekly rates. Passport America is only good Mon - Thurs.
Aargghh, I'm about ready to just head to Veracruz. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW, I'm not planning on boondocking because of cost but because I want to get away from things as much as possible, I want to do some serious reading for one.Heck - Check into a park in the Rio Grande Valley. With all the Snow Birds gone, they'll be giving the sites away and it will be very, very quiet. :B

RE: Canadian currency exchange

Here in the east we often travel back and forth across the border sometimes 2-3 times a week throughout our May/October camping season. It is just easier to use my Visa card for everything. For cash I usually carry $50-$100 of both currencies for convenience of buying things under $10-$15 such as milk, bread, ice etc... I always try get my cash during a store purchase, i.e. Walmart, or a grocery store and I use an ATM as a last resort.
This is what we use to do and it works both ways.

RE: Question about using overdrive

A quick read of the Owners Manual will tell you to leave the OD "On" unless it is hunting between gears. Towing with the OD On had little if anything to do with the 4R100 transmission failures. The Torque Convertors would not standup to the increased torque of a "Chipped" engine. Having said that, chipping the 7.3 makes for a very nice tow vehicle. Also FYI some 2000's had torque convertors that sounded like a can full of marbles.
I had my '01 for 7 yrs and it never left me on the side of the road. Not even a flat tire.

RE: pex tubing

Those crimping tools use to cost $100.00. I use a PEX cinch clamp (something like a hose clamp) but they require a tool as well. You can get the whole kit for about $30.00.
I absolutely hate those plastic fitting the trailer manufactures use.

RE: Equa Flex Install

30-50 ft lbs is the proper torque. I don't know where "just to the point where the nut seats against the hanger" comes from. That is incorrect.
The bolts have raised striated shoulders to prevent them from turning. It takes some force to get the bolt heads seated against the hanger. The message here is, do not try to use the nut to draw the bolt in as you risk striping the threads. Believe me, they will. Once the bolt is seated, put on the nut and torque it down to the specified amount with a torque wrench. 30 - 50 ft lbs in not a lot.
Go to Dexter Axle Resource Library and on the right side select "Service Kit Instruction Sheets. Down load the "E-Z Flex Equalizer and Bolt kit" instruction sheet. (The E-Z Flex Complete Suspension Kit instruction look the same, However, they are an earlier revision.)
Good luck
Just to be clear, these are not the Dexter EZ Flex equalizers that I'm installing. I have the Trail Aire Equa Flex ( now owned by Lippert) equalizers. Interestingly I did previously look at the install specs for the Dexter Ex Flex and it called for 60 lbs of torque on the hanger bolts. My question is, how the hell does any equalizer move front to back when it's pinched down this tight.
I realize you are installing the Equa Flex and at first I did miss read it. :) However the instructions apply to the wet bolts for the spring hangers.
The hanger bolts have shoulders on them so the nuts only go so far as to not pinch the hangers. The Equa Flex may be similar to the E-Z Flex in that it has a bushing that holds the center hanger from pinching.

RE: Entry Door Deadbolt Stuck in Locked Position

The TT is in storage right now. I am sure I can get in there in some fashion once I get it out of storage. I am hoping that, once inside, the red latch inside the TT will release the deadbolt latch. I am just unsure as to the cause of it b/c the TT is brand new. It will be on my warranty list of the things to fix on the next trip to the service department.Take a screw driver with you. You can take it apart from the inside.

RE: Why the difference in payload?

The difference shows up in the Gross Combined Weight Rating which is a reflection of what the drive train can take. The GCWR is the combined weight of the truck and the trailer. Compare the GCWR of the 2 trucks.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I have read many suggestions on how to keep toilet paper or paper towels from unrolling while traveling. Here is what I do:
I take a straight pin with a colored head and stick it in the the last sheet showing on the roll. The colored head helps locate it when we arrive. To keep track of the pin, I slide it in the side of the roll, parallel to the sheets, near the cardboard tube. Stays in place there until we travel again. Works every time.Of course. Why didn't I think of that. :) Great idea. Thank you.

RE: Titanium or Everest

The Titanium is a very good trailer. Originally built by Glendale in Canada and now by Hartland. The one thing that I don't care for is the bed layout that results from the "Cab Over" design.
Everest is no longer made. I wouldn't consider them I high end unit but on an equal footing with the Montana. I really like the layout of ours and it has some good features about it.
