RE: Our pack is expanding, sort of......

Looks like it's related to the Great Pyranese (sp?) family. Nice looking puppies. Hope the rest of the clan will accept the "white sheep" of the family! :)

RE: Video, Christmas lights on a house.

There's now equipment you can by that times the lights to whatever music you want. I'm a firm believer that Christmas stuff shouldn't start until after Thanksgiving, but since it's here I might as well enjoy it. For those that don't want to deal with it-DON'T LOOK!

RE: Cape Hatteras Damage Report from NPS

We've been there 5 or 6 times and are very familiar with the area. What a shame they've been hit so hard again but that's the risk you take living on the ocean. Any word on how the campgrounds made out?

RE: Tell me about Williamsburg, VA & where to stay

American Heritage, Yorktown, Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg-but just be prepared to spend some $$ to see the historical sites. Worth it though.

Problem Winterizing

Hubby is having a problem winterizing the Endura. There is no flow to anything but the hot water heater using pumping system (not on town water), i.e., it appears the bypass system is not working. Suggestions? He's thinking frozen line.

RE: Need to find a good blood glucose meter

Best of luck with the doc. I use a Ultra Touch as well, on the side of the finger, and it's fairly easy to tolerate. Your weight is probably having as much of an impact, if not more, on your overall sugar level. Remember that in Type 2 diabetics you still produce insulin, just not enough for your body size. When I was diagnosed I was not overweight. I lost just under 15 lbs, exercise regularly, know what my trigger foods are, eat smaller meals but more snacks, and make sure I eat protein (meat, nuts, cheese, natural peanut butter) any time I eat. Once you establish the habits, it becomes second nature. Definitely see a dietician-(s)he can be extremely helpful.

Can't drink tequila anymore

Haven't been much of a drinker since I was diagnosed with CHF in 2006 and over the past 14 months, since the diabetes was discovered, I've probably had 2 or 3 glasses of wine and Kahula once or twice. Decided to go on a bender when we went out to dinner tonight and got a desert pear marguerita at The Longhorn. 4 sips and discovered I couldn't drink it. Made me sick. On one hand I'm a bit disappointed because I love margeritas. On the other hand, it's a great deterrent to drinking!

RE: Christmas Gift Question -- help!

Agree with all the ideas above, especially the picture. If you've got the time, I would put a small album together as well. Part of the healing process is recounting the good times. Difficult at first but when the happy memories come back it starts to ease the pain. The ultimate gift would be having her come live with you but that's not a decision to be taken likely, nor do I have any idea if it's something either of you could handle.

RE: Bitten by Stray Dog

Yup, get checked. You don't want to mess with rabies or any other diseases the dog might have.

Don't I wish! One of our favorite places. Endura is getting winterized this weekend. Boo, hoo!

RE: School bus vs. HUMUNGOUS deer! OMG!

The student had started walking to the front of the bus (as the older ones are supposed to do -- and then sit in a seat near the front until I actually stop at their house), Glad no one was hurt but kids should not be up and about in the bus while it's in motion, rural area or not. Seems to me the rules set up a dangerous situation in two ways-first, you have the obvious-if you slam the brakes the kid goes flying. 2nd, your FULL attention should be on avoiding the obstacle in the road and/or minimizing any impact, not having to worry about someone who might be standing up. I would suggest you contact whoever makes the rules and tell them this one puts the kids' welfare in jeopardy.

RE: "Bluehair"... sign of disrespect???

I frequently use the term "Q-Tip" to refer to someone with white hair. Mind you, my husband is only 48 and is very gray. Old farts are old farts, the elderly are the elderly, the older gentleman or lady is just that-I agree, it's a state of mind. Some of you need to remember that when you use use the term of "younger people" or "teenager" generically and with disdain. And remember that the term "silverback" in the business world is a sign a respect, despite the fact it refers to gorillas.

RE: 4th of July week at MB SC

We called MBTP months ago and wound up with a site in the 700s for that week, when they finally sent out confirmation out. We cancelled. Said they were like like until at least mid-August and indicated they might start booking for 2011 early.

RE: anal glands

We call it either "skunk butt" (because that's what it smells like) or ooky butt because it stinks. Sometimes stress will cause them to express their glands.

RE: Morgan RV Resorts Contact Info

For those of you who think this type of thing doesn't work, please see Salrosa's thread titled "Morgan Resorts". Management can't fix a problem they don't know exists.

RE: Saturday night?

Spent all day working on the house. Took almost 4 hours to get a stupid wallpaper border off, then we painted for another 5 hours. Made a nice, big meatloaf inbetween painting, then dashed off to the Jr. Rifle program we coach. Now I'm trying to clear my brain after dealing with 20 teenage boys for 2 1/2 hours!

I'll second Artillery Ridge, both for the campground and the horseback riding.
